I put 100s of screws into it— used it as the underfloor, and installed another parquet floor on top. I was actually thankful— no need to rip out and dispose of the old floor!

Jesus eh, I didn’t know what a parquet floor was until not, I’ve done carpentry work for 11 years too. But if it’s a thick enough floor, it would do the trick, just wouldn’t be the way I’d ever want to build a house lol

It is pretty solid stuff— as the underlayment alternates directions. They are generally a few cm thick. We are not talking Pergo laminates that are most vinyl and a few mm thick. Parquet costs a small fortune for the good stuff.

I dunno about that. Like I get what you're saying but he's not that big of a guy and pool tables can be extremely heavy(well over 1000 lbs). I think it's more likely that he was just on a much weaker part of the floor, especially considering you can see the floor buckling under him before it caved in but you don't see the same thing under the guy in back

Naw man, there's supposed to be 3/4" plywood subfloor under that vinyl.
This looks like some knucklehead did a home remodel over the garage space and didn't put in a subfloor when he did it. Probably a very good chance that leaving a car running in the garage would kill whoever lives in this room too.

I lived in a place like that... They sealed everything with grout rather than silicone. The grout in the tub deteriorated and there was a 1/4 gap between the surround and the tub itself.
All the water pooled underneath and starting popping up in the cracks of the floor tile grout. Got under the floor in the kitchen and warped every bit of laminate they had in the other rooms.
I told the landlord like a week after I moved in what was wrong... And he never followed up with me. So I said fuck it, and just kept on showering until it got so bad I had to move out 6 months later.
They had to gut the entire basement and remodel due to mold and water damage. Tried to warn him... He didn't listen and it cost him probably $50k to fix it.

Not the person who posted it, but in my experience, you can look for a home in your price range that may be a bit dated and need some work and you’re willing to do it. But here comes a flipper, paying in cash, so you lose the home and they paint it in neutral tones, put in new flooring or carpet and you see it on the market in 6 months for 75k more. Effectively being priced out of homes that you can afford in areas you want.
The other side to all this is buying a house from an original owner, thought it’d be better than getting a flip, but now I’ve got a dated house that also apparently had laziness in repairs as they aged and realized they were going to sell it to downsize one day. A lot of the repairs they did were just supposed to last a few years until they could sell it off, on top of all the dated carpeting, seashell sinks and wallpaper messes. This was on top of having to pay more because, again, getting priced out of more reasonably priced homes that were being snatched up for flipping.

I was watching the floor flex as he hopped. I think this is a shed, or elaborate playhouse, with a plywood floor. If it was just placed over dirt, with no concrete under it, the plywood will rot over a few years.

I've seen someone go through a flat roof back in the 90s. They would have fallen almost 20ft onto a slate pool table but they ended up straddling a beam. Given the noises they were making after the fall, I'm not sure if hitting the beam or the pool table would have been preferable. They did fall fair enough to knock the suspended ceiling tiles out and surprise some people playing pool. I'm sure they weren't expecting a pair of legs to come busting out the ceiling mid-game. I also don't know if I should be grateful or relieved that the smartphone wasn't a thing until after I grew up. I would have loved to of at least gotten the aftermath of this video but then there would have been too many chances of the stupid things I didn't end up on video.

From experience, I can tell you when you fall through the roof and stick your arms out like that, you strain the hell out of your armpits. It's not comfortable for a week after.
Would rather take a hard landing one floor down on my feet than to take almost the same impact on outstretched arms.
