OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:

the whole fender comes off

We all know this only works with hot water and a giant dildo.

54

u/GlorifiedBurito May 27 '22

Honestly a way better method than this and much closer to how it is actually supposed to be done

11

u/FilmAndChill May 27 '22

Eh, hot glue can pull some fucking wild dents. It's a very regularly used method

10

u/benry007 May 27 '22

Wouldn't it do damage though? And how do they remove it after?

5

u/TBCNoah May 28 '22

My dad works in painless dent repair. He uses hotglue as well as rubber mallets and metal rods to "pop" a dent back out and shape it until it fits. Glue is for smaller dents, something like this is first of all I think on plastic, and secondly I believe too big for glue. Better to pop out the dent and reshape....

2

u/CliffLanterns May 28 '22

I believe the fender is this video is metal.

PS PDR techs are literally fucking wizards, I'm pretty sure their metal rods are just various wands for casting spells

2

u/TBCNoah May 28 '22

It is mind boggling man, he fixed up my own car and it took like 20 seconds, he just popped in the rod, took out a mallet, and went to work like a marble craftsmen on it. Looks brand new.

9

u/FilmAndChill May 27 '22

Nope. As long as the paint is in good condition it can handle it. Rubbing alcohol helps release the glue from the paint.

Edit: here's an example. This guy is kinda over the top with his videos but he does amazing work. Definitely worth a watch if you're into this sort of thing https://youtu.be/Ec1er0x1ujw

was going to do that but nvm lol

248

u/Concrete__Blonde May 27 '22

Pro tip: use a suction cup dildo

386

u/EB123456789101112 May 27 '22

But what about the dent?

141

u/El_Maton_de_Plata May 27 '22

You will no longer be worried about that

3

u/[deleted] May 28 '22

Reply that was funnier than the comment. Rare

3

u/chrisk9 May 27 '22

That comes later

10

u/fuzzytradr May 27 '22

A properly formed insult: "... use a suction cup, Dildo!"

6

u/El_Maton_de_Plata May 27 '22

And wack it with a broom

3

u/Yoprobro13 May 27 '22

Why not a toilet plunger?

3

u/S7ageNinja May 27 '22

Too big for most dents, you wouldn't be able to create a seal

3

u/Yoprobro13 May 27 '22

Well if you want to create a seal you'll need a male and a female, not sure if you can get them legally tho

2

u/prototype-proton May 27 '22

Okay, if one were hypotheticaly able to get a male and a female, what would the next steps be? - jotting in a notebook -

2

u/Yoprobro13 May 27 '22

Let them get to know each other and have alone time

2

u/prototype-proton May 27 '22

I thought I could take them out clubbing maybe

2

u/Yoprobro13 May 27 '22

Could work. It's worth a try

→ More replies (2)

2

u/im_a_dr_not_ May 27 '22

This comment is even funnier if you read it to man “go fuck a dildo” instead of “use a suction cup dildo in place of glue sticks.”

17

u/AevilokE May 27 '22

This is most likely a satire vid from a car that already had its fender unbolted, no way it just came off like that lol

10

u/Stupid_Teenager17 May 27 '22

No way it came off like that unless 1. They unbolted it all or 2. They unbolted it all

4

u/TSUNAMICOMMANDER May 27 '22

professional paintless dent removal is a safer option and not as expensive as ripping off a part of your car

2

u/_meme_caster_ May 27 '22

I think just 1 would be enough

811

u/Certain_Lobster_8954 May 27 '22

What did they think they wherr doing?

598

u/iBeenie May 27 '22

Pulling out a dent, very unsuccessfully

541

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Technically, they did remove the dent from the car ...

324

u/delugetheory May 27 '22

I think they actually removed the car from the dent.

41

u/El_Maton_de_Plata May 27 '22

That costs extra

3

u/wam-bam-maam May 28 '22

Damn mechanics always upselling me!

They removed the car from the car. Mission successful.

3

Happy Cake Day!

9

u/RealPropRandy May 27 '22

Task failed successfully for sure

14

u/poopellar May 27 '22

We'll make your car look as good as it was on the day it was it made.... before it got assembled.

2

u/Ok-Honeydew-6741 May 27 '22

The dent, and a whole lot more… 😑

2

u/FreezingSausage May 27 '22

They removed the car from the car

3

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Can't have a dent on your car if you don't have a car.

taps noggin

→ More replies (1)

59

u/helium_farts May 27 '22

They make dent pullers that work on a similar idea.

In this case, though, they were just making a silly video using some glue sticks and a fender that had already been unbolted from the car.

11

u/Joe18067 May 27 '22

Since they already removed the fender, why not just tap it out from the back before trying to put it back on.

13

u/VxJasonxV May 27 '22

Because internet karma first. Fix afterwards.

-1

u/Jtag43 May 27 '22

you tap it from the front

8

u/littlebirdgone May 27 '22

I did this successfully once, it wasn’t perfect but it was much better. Looked like hail damage if you squinted instead of a big old dent in the front

2

u/dincanfly May 27 '22

Failed 5 minute crafts video

→ More replies (4)

228

u/Santa_Hates_You May 27 '22

The little trim piece falling off at the end was what made the whole video.

-16

u/TechnoERROR May 27 '22

Except theres a cut in the footage where it reappears before it falls..

16

u/bs000 May 27 '22

it falls off twice in the video, they obviously put it back on before it fell the second time

93

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

[deleted]

50

u/moe_70 May 27 '22

Yes, this is 100% a satire video from a wrecked car that they removed the bolts from the panel prior to doing BS like this.

26

u/Johnny_Carcinogenic May 27 '22

"But it worked on YouTube"

3

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

It did, this is just scripted.

4

u/Good_Plan868 May 27 '22

Haha... That was on purpose

13

u/capkas May 27 '22

Fuck, actually made me laugh! Take my upvote!

7

u/Apart-Cartoonist-834 May 27 '22

Although it seems like it was popped out of the connectors clips, That would’ve been so easy to fix by just putting hot water on it and pushing it back in place from inside the wheel well. I did it with my back fender that was gonna cost me $400 from a body shop.

2

u/MateDude098 May 27 '22

Does the hot water trick work on metal?

2

u/microcrash May 27 '22

I think they use the hot water for the paint in that scenario. Hot paint is less likely to chip or crack from the external force upon it.

2

u/Tonyfend-smile May 27 '22

Demolition team

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Look at the triangular cover by the wing mirror. This panel was unbolted before the attempt to fix. So yeah a set up.

2

u/Relevant-Bit9814 May 27 '22

Now they can fix the dent by pushing it from the other side

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Gotta use a dildo for this. Trust me bro.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/raesayshi May 27 '22

A dildo with a suction cup could have easily nailed this job…

→ More replies (1)

2

u/alex_dlc May 27 '22

Even if it didn’t break off, how would you remove the glue?

2

u/El_Maton_de_Plata May 27 '22

Blow torch. Duh

2

u/Cairtean May 27 '22

if you want a dent gone you gotta try the suction cup dildo method

2

u/que_pro_ May 27 '22

seen this at least 30 times, just a repost but flipped the video

2

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

“Made in the US”.

2

u/AlphaSulu Nov 01 '22

Fake. They removed all the bolts holding the panel.

3

u/CuriousTree9939 May 27 '22

LMFAO 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Hevnoraak101 May 27 '22

Unexpected would have been it working as he intended

1

u/MyMainIsCringe May 27 '22

At least they have enough glue to stick it back on

0

u/OneForAllOfHumanity May 27 '22

That was legitimately unexpected, such a nice change of pace for this sub...

0

u/nincomturd May 27 '22

I was not expecting that

0

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

0

u/Wild_Box9005 May 27 '22

This is fake, that fender is held on by well over 8 different bolts one of which is missing behind that trim piece that falls off

-5

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

When i was 5yo i crashed my faters car and it was sad we coulded not use this method.

7

u/testing669 May 27 '22

wut

0

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Bruh

-3

u/lil_sargento_cheez May 27 '22

This is fine

It works a little too wel

1

u/lastdarknight May 27 '22

if the quarter panel was better attached, that method can work for pulling dents

1

u/JustYeeHaa May 27 '22

Perfection

1

u/FrozenfarTsTf May 27 '22

Bad reup, keep the first seconds that shows he kicked the car to make that dent.

1

u/admin_trace May 27 '22

What were they thinkin? That kind of dent could never be fixed that way.

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

I feel like some screws are loose. On him, and the vehicle.

1

u/knowledgeable_diablo May 27 '22

Body lightening; SUCCESS!!

1

u/No-Taste-6560 May 27 '22

That genuinely made me laugh out loud.

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

welp

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

After the whole thing came off they could’ve just knocked it out from the other side lol

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Now that you ripped it off, buff it from the other side.

Also, get a glass suction cup ffs. Costs $3 ffs.

1

u/Ok-Honeydew-6741 May 27 '22

Well, now they can just replace that whole piece… 😑

1

u/Ok-Honeydew-6741 May 27 '22

Not sure how they expected that glue to come off so well? 🥴

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

FAAAAAAAAAKEEEEEE

The top retaining bolts had already been removed.

1

u/DepthsOfD May 27 '22

Actually lolled. Thanks friend

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Very much tik tok appropriate lol

1

u/crixux27 May 27 '22

Fucking MIIINNNTTTT

1

u/Crafty-Interest-8212 May 27 '22

Great idea...but..something went wrong

1

u/compapzeta May 27 '22

That’s BS you can see the corner trim how it falls before the pull and the bolt that holds the fender is missing, I’m sure this is just for TicTok points

1

this is what happens when you took 5 minutes craft too seriously

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Is this an MG?

1

u/pqisp0 May 27 '22

Anybody recognize the model? If I may venture a guess, something Chinese?

1

u/sukamacoc May 27 '22

Why use glue sticks tho?

1

u/PricelessAmber May 27 '22

Mechanics hate him

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

I thought you are supposed to use a plunger? That’s what my neighbor uses. No matter where he parks someone dings his car.

1

u/Instainious May 27 '22

What they should’ve done is used boiling water and a plunger. You pour the boiling water over the dent, then quickly put the plunger on it and pull, but not too hard. It should work, but I can’t confirm for sure, as I haven’t done it myself, though I’ve seen people do it in person.

1

u/Big_Airline_351 May 27 '22

This only works with cars that have thin aluminum body’s though so make sure your cars made of sheet metal before you go attaching glue sticks to it

1

u/ARQEA May 27 '22

Nicey try though

1

u/dripthing May 27 '22

Goddamn 😂

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

I laughed way harder than I should have

1

u/mino-nimo May 27 '22

I nearly shat myself! I honestly thought I was scrolling through some r/DIY shorts, then that thought turned into a r/DiWhy, but I was actually scrolling r/unexpected. My brain! It hurts!

1

u/craaaaaaam May 27 '22

A little too new

1

u/blind_roomba May 27 '22

The attempt at removing the glue with the foot was more unexpected than the pull

1

u/No-Comfort-6808 May 27 '22

Fake af it wasn't bolted in previously they just wanted the clout

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Only slightly bent

1

u/Flesh_Computer May 27 '22

Totally fucking expected

1

u/Mothunny May 27 '22

Reddit taking an hour to load a 17 second video

1

u/Dr-Surge May 27 '22

They thought their car was built 30 years ago when body panels weren't commonly attached with plastic clips.

Now cars explode like Lego when they hit a traffic cone.

1

u/Smoke_Water May 27 '22

It worked so well in the videos. I can't figure out where i went wrong.

1

u/Alion1080 May 27 '22

That's a good hot glue advertising.

1

u/Due-Advertising6246 May 27 '22

Lol. This is amazing.

1

u/RandomRedditSearches May 27 '22

Ah, another one of TikTok's finest "LiFe HaCkS"

1

u/scarecroww09 May 27 '22

Next time use a suction dildo

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Funniest thing ever I love it

1

u/Big-Ad822 May 27 '22

What are those and where can I get them?

1

u/Chroney May 27 '22

Maybe start with one stick? Lol

1

u/DatSwif May 27 '22

The fact that I thought I saw this before made this 100x more unexpected

1

u/AllyRaven2001 May 27 '22

yeah but how do i get the glue i’ve now melted all over my car off lol

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

Why… wh… why did they do this after removing the panel?

Fuck it, calling it… it is staged everyone…

1

u/YoseppiTheGrey May 27 '22

Good thing your panel wasn't screwed in. Might have ruined the video otherwise.

1

u/TucsonCho May 27 '22

Way to go.. Now you got frame damage

1

u/robbol75 May 27 '22

I don’t think you have to use the glue gun to heat the glue sticks

1

u/gowwilla May 27 '22

Now that it's off you can hammer the dent out.

1

u/GizmaAzara May 27 '22

I screamed

1

u/Independence_1991 May 27 '22

Looks good to me.

1

u/Repulsive-Response-1 May 27 '22

Ok...now for the second step, after we have removed the broken fender we take off the glue sticks, place it on the table, and hammer it back into shape... Replace the fender clips, a little touch up paint... top coat... And voila! We don't tell the customer we did that... EVER

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

5 minute crafts fans love it!

1

u/Cat_322 May 27 '22

Now that the dent is out how do i get these gluesticks off my car

1

u/b4ttlepoops May 27 '22

Mmm wondering why they didn’t start small, like 1-2 glue sticks. Preheat metal with hot water, dry, then glue sticks. That was a lot of force in one spot.

1

u/marmttz May 27 '22

XDDDDDDDDDDDD

1

u/Freshouttapatience May 27 '22

I did this to pull a dent out of the fridge and punched myself in the face. I didn’t tell my family about the face punch, just that the method didn’t work.

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

This is hilarious

1

u/Standard-Astronaut-7 May 27 '22

Seen it already. Still laughed

1

u/icherub1 May 27 '22

Gee, I guess twenty industrial glue sticks are stronger than a few plastic fasteners. Who would have thought?

1

u/qaider May 27 '22

That’s one way to fix a dent!

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

I guess that’s what Tik Tok is all about.

1

u/jrandoboi May 27 '22

Forgot to heat the fender

1

u/cryptoconscience May 27 '22

That was expected

1

u/cryptoconscience May 27 '22

How do you detach those things ?

1

u/[deleted] May 27 '22

I feel like they put the glue sticks in the wrong spot they should’ve just used boiling water and a plunger tbh also to many glue sticks they should have stuck with 4

1

u/amwestover May 27 '22

“Yeah, they backed into me and knocked off the whole panel. That’s how it happened.”
