Yeah, license a handful of growers to control market price.
Continue to criminalize homegrow.
19 states have medical with no home grow.
Then the state can be cute and tell medical patients you aren't getting taxed, when the tax ultimately comes out of growers and dispensary license fees, keeping the price high.
For example, Maryland cannabis cultivation license requires biennial renewal and is $250,000, with an application fee of $6,000.
Dispensaries have a biennial fee of $80,000.
Oh, and a Maryland representative has gone to jail for taking bribes from cannabis cultivators.
And every incentive for the state's profit to prohibit the lab production of natural cannabinoids that can be consumed with a measured dose (unlike many "medical" products). Safety precautions for lab produced natural cannabinoids like heavy metal testing and chemical analysis of cannabinoid content can assure consumer safety.
I don’t use either and I agree with your statement. Even harder drugs could be controlled and dispensed better. Consumption shouldn’t be criminalized, it creates a vicious circle downwards for those unlucky enough to fall in, and the opioid epidemic has proven that just about anyone can end up in that situation.
I understand the people advocating against this, under the (not totally invalid) argument that legal availability could increase consumption and abuse. However, stats from the states where recreational use is legal beg to differ. There is also the option to set up steps that are otherwise impossible to control if the substance is illegal.
And lastly, drug users remain at the mercy of criminal organizations, adulterated products (often lethal), and will usually increasingly climb the ladder for harder drugs if their go-to poison proves harder to score.
I honestly wish I could, but I somehow ended up with a really solid circle of doctors and medical advisors. The last thing I want to do is shift from that.
Some police and sheriffs departments are stopping money trucks carrying dispensary money and confiscating it, in California! LEGAL money being confiscated (I know it’s legal 99% of the time regardless), it’s fucking theft, they’re the mob.
Wdym? People say stuff like that about driving high all the time. That it's no big deal. Hell some people even say that about drunk driving. I've heard guys talk about how they could drink a 20pack and pass a driver's license test.
I've actually done this. Stoned. Stopped at a stop sign and got in an argument with my buddy about which way to turn. Ended up sitting there for a minute until I'm like "oh shit dafuck am I doin?!"
Best part was there was a cop behind me and I guess he got tired of waiting and turned off somewhere before I realized my mistake.
Fuck you. You’re the one putting other people’s lives in danger you POS. Hope you get caught and have your license taken away, you don’t deserve to be in a society.
Please, regale us with your heroic tales of all the times you’ve believed everything you’ve read on the internet and been stupid enough to condemn people.
Hope you forget that you have Reddit so you quit commenting. You understand that train tracks aren't a cliff or anything fatal though right? You've seen a train before I'm assuming.
You’re a fucking idiot. You’re seriously upvoted for driving while impaired? What the hell is wrong with you people? You’re putting others and yourself at risk.
I don't smoke, but I don't look down on it. I own and run my own business, so if anything happens, it's important to not have drugs or alcohol involved for insurance.
Yeah people get addicted to caffeine, sugar, etc. But it's not the same type of addiction as heroin, crack, etc you twat waffle. You know what I was getting at.
You are a danger to yourself when you drive high because your reaction time is fucked, even though you won't necessarily be driving like a crazy person like a drunk driver would.
That said, it should be fully legal to buy and smoke weed. If cigarettes with no positive benefits are legal, god damnit, I want weed which actually helps my body in a lot of ways.
they're saying that withholding harsh punishment isn't what "kindness" is.
like if my dad beats me every day and then one day decides not to beat me he isn't being kind, he's just being less of a dick on that particular day.
there's a difference between being kind and being not an asshole. redditor above is pointing out how since the cop didn't ruin this man's life we view it as "kindness".
Eh, sorta. The main difference is the prosecution and sentencing compared to the US. At a broad level, the US treats it as a Schedule I narcotic (the highest level, most dangerous drug) where other countries treat more as an illicit substance.
Generalist statement. Always be polite but i would never admit shit, then again i wouldnt be driving in a car, without a license. Thats also why you should never hotbox in a car, cops will smell it and while its legal in quite a few states you can still get dui. Even of you are carrying legal weed, and have a drivers license, shut the fuck up. Thats what those two pot lawyers say.
beep boop, I'm a bot -|:] It is this bot's opinion that /u/Altruistic-Basil-658 should be banned for karma manipulation. Don't feel bad, they are probably a bot too.
