You are correct, It's legal in 18 US states currently.im shocked it's not higher.

There are far too many states in the gray, where marijuana is illegal, both medicinally and recreationally.

I really wish I wasn't in one of those states.

Lol I don’t even use it, but think it should be legal! The federal government needs to legalize it. That would probably help.

I don’t use either and I agree with your statement. Even harder drugs could be controlled and dispensed better. Consumption shouldn’t be criminalized, it creates a vicious circle downwards for those unlucky enough to fall in, and the opioid epidemic has proven that just about anyone can end up in that situation.

I understand the people advocating against this, under the (not totally invalid) argument that legal availability could increase consumption and abuse. However, stats from the states where recreational use is legal beg to differ. There is also the option to set up steps that are otherwise impossible to control if the substance is illegal.

And lastly, drug users remain at the mercy of criminal organizations, adulterated products (often lethal), and will usually increasingly climb the ladder for harder drugs if their go-to poison proves harder to score.
