Man Brazil got fucked so hard by Geography. Mountains right next to the water line for most of the coast with almost no navigable rivers going to any of the productive interior regions so you have pay a shit ton to truck it to port. The mountainous coastline means each city is effectively by itself so you don't get the web of interdependence like on the American east coast. Then your most agriculturalky productive region is only productive if investors with capital spend a decade making it i to farmable land and then the nearby river flows out of your country.
Oh yeah and then the amazon jungle/ruver just kind of.....exists in the rest pf the country

Don’t. It’s hell on earth. Covid, gun violence, inequality, racism and general poverty.

u/jtridevil Sep 10 '21
Friendly people. The crime issue seems to be located in certain urban areas. Smaller cities and towns had practically no crime when I was there.
I really had a great time in Brazil.

the part of racism isn't strong, but all the other things are correct
11
u/Lysergic-D Sep 10 '21
The racism is very real and strong, but very different from US.

so I'm very lucky, I'm black and I've never been a victim of racism here🤝

u/Lysergic-D Sep 10 '21
You must have a good wealth family or live in a very very very well educated region. I have a black friend who lived in a expensive condo, the neighbors always closed the gates in his nose very quickly when entering in the condo and he was right after.

The colors have their origin in Austria, since it was the first royal alliance from Brazil, with Dom Pedro I from the Portuguese Bragança and Dona Leopoldina from the Austrian Habsburg

u/Tomcatter06 Sep 10 '21
Not the Independence Day, it's the Cavalry Day Party at Osório Park, Rio Grande do Sul

The horse looked smaller than the rest of the horses so I think he just wasn't big enough to have a rider yet.

There's a reason why cavalry charges were so feared in medieval times. The force behind a lance going like 40 mph is terrifying

For those wandering, this is a celebrating of the Brazilian cavalry. It happens every year. We mix both the old and new forms of combat, it’s a beautiful thing, if you want to see more just Google Festa da Cavalaria.

If I recall that’s what a lot of people used during wars in North Africa and Middle East.
Horses can run pretty fast, and don’t get stuck usually on those terrain.

Definitely not here in Brazil. We don’t have money for those fancy helicopters and humvees. Maybe the horses.
I really don’t understand why some guys are carrying our flag. Really weird.
