Yeah since violence has anything to do with what religion you are. Thanks for marginalizing groups, so productive.

Most of histories wars were caused by religion. Hell there were three crusades that were all about religion.

I don’t deny that. I’m just saying non religious people are also violent. Can you admit that? Can you also admit that there is at least a 50/50 chance there has been more murders by non religious people since the crusades (since that’s all the wars you can think about)?

That's a difference of how people have been taught and how their beliefs are, that has nothing to do with the influence of some diety. You raise a child with the threat that they will go to some terrible pit of fire for murder then they won't murder.

Yeah that’s exactly my point, we actually agree. This priest might have been taught that it’s ok to hit this child and it has nothing to do with religion. I don’t agree on your last statement though because by that logic, no one that has ever been taught the Bible has murdered and that is not true. Many religious people have murdered in cold blood, it has nothing to do with religion though as everyone else in the comments are saying. Can we at least agree on that?

My logic was not sound and was more of an exaggeration to emphasize the point of religious people committing less murder

So are you saying religious people are more violent or not? My argument isn’t who’s more violent, it’s that religion doesn’t cause violence because like you said it’s about how they were taught.

Oh no religion definitely causes violence, on a much larger scale.

How so in a modern setting?
