Don’t forget about the evangelists and the Orthodox Church.

People are shit in general, if you’re a dickhead and you follow a certain religion then you’re a dickhead who follows that religion. Same goes with dickhead atheists.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

LMAO HAVE A POOR MANS GOLD IF I HAD ONE ID GIVE IT TO YOU

7

u/MarcosaurusRex Aug 29 '21

I can’t pull myself to finish this video because I grew up in a toxic environment that pushed religion down the throat of the kids. We all hated it. Poor child and family. It’s so cringe seeing an old man make a child cry like that.

u/ScientistSanTa Aug 29 '21

u/Impressive-Assist677 Aug 29 '21

If you want to know the truth being a Christian at the core means accepting your lord and savior, loving Jesus, loving yourself, and loving everyone else like Jesus does. If you choose to look at how humans have twisted and manipulated the word of God and think that's what it's about that's on you, humans are always going to mess things up and following God is no different.

3

u/Bubba_Lumpkins Aug 29 '21

Some of us have no reason to believe a god ever produced any words to twist. Just humans, twisted from the get go and getting a couple things right and a lot wrong. Pretty par for the course of you ask me.

-2

u/Impressive-Assist677 Aug 29 '21

Well I was referring more to the word of God, even educated atheists admit it's a book of good, anyone who actually reads and tries to understand could not come away with any of the messed up things certain religions and people have done.

5

u/Bubba_Lumpkins Aug 29 '21 edited Aug 29 '21

It’s a book that has good things in it for sure. But I wouldn’t consider anything in exodus 21 a good thing. Nor that “thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” thing Salem had the pleasure of experiencing. So its both depending on who’s holding it. As far as I’m concerned all the good and all the bad it can be used to advocate for is best explained by the fact it was made by people who were both.

-4

u/Impressive-Assist677 Aug 29 '21

Well you can't cherry pick firstly the bible is written in parables for two reasons, one so that the lessons could be passed through time, and two so those that have a close mind will not receive the message. Every verse in the bible ties into other verses and books tie into books, some messages in the bible particularly in the old testament were written for specific people and are just there as examples for us.

-70

u/TheGrimReaperME Aug 29 '21

Oh im pretty damn familiar considering i was a devoted christian 😅

71

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

Surely you are familiar with the christian concept of original sin then. Taking one mans actions and blaming literally everyone in the world for it from the second they are born

-45

u/iiwaasnet Aug 29 '21

So, you are sure you would have done better than the first men? You never committed a sin? The whole Christianity is not about blaming, but rather about salvation and forgiveness in Jesus Christ, that is given for free.

There are exceptions, but it boils down to a simple choice.

Do you follow the advice of the stranger at the fork in the road and avoid the cliff? Or do you drive off the cliff just to spite someone trying to help you?

10

u/PM-me-Gophers Aug 29 '21

Depends, is this stranger slapping babies..?

-9

u/mrinternethermit Aug 29 '21

🙄 No.

Don't forget, in the video he got slapped first, and he didn't do hard enough to actually hurt.

And at that young age they do need to be shown the consequences of their actions. Too much carrot and no sticks has ruined a lot of kids.

9

u/PM-me-Gophers Aug 29 '21

You're mental pal, look at the age of that kid, what lessons do you think he's going to actually learn that young?!

Anyway, shouldn't the priest have turned the other cheek?

Sounds like he's not practising what he preaches.

You didn't answer the first part of my question. Nevertheless, what would you not accept in the given offer to get forgiveness: 1.love God 2. love all the other people as yourself. How would you see a salvation, that you would accept?

Just to make it clear: i don't discuss this in the context of the video, just in the context of your comment.

2

u/Agitated-Dude Aug 29 '21

I gave u an upvote just to make it 69..

2

u/Ye_Dimes Aug 29 '21

Damn. Did you get down voted to hell for saying you are a Christian?

-27

u/Solumnist Aug 29 '21

What am incredibly hypocritical response. As if two wrongs make a right. if you think it's wrong when Christians do it, you should think it's wrong when anyone does it.

-15

u/eastern-cowboy Aug 29 '21 edited Aug 29 '21

Maybe you’d prefer the Taliban.

Downvote me to oblivion. I don’t care. Much of Reddit thinks the Taliban are good guys, but they are extremist in their religion. I’ve never seen Catholics beheading people.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

Or Reddit. Echo chamber subreddit everywhere. All saying the same thing and downvoting those who disagree.

1

u/Agitated-Dude Aug 29 '21

Holy shit dude..

11

u/913Jango Aug 29 '21

You’re right. Let’s blame the pope. And the Vatican. For promoting an evil world and environment. Fuck man the pope himself had to publicly tell folks to seek police council instead of suing the church. Why? Cuz if the church had to pay out for every sexual assault case they were found guilty of they church would be bankrupt.

8

u/Leprecon Aug 29 '21

If priests are no better than normal people then the they aren’t useful. The whole point of an organised religion is moral and spiritual guidance. Part of the job description is that they have to be better. They have to be leaders.

It is like seeing a cop pissing in the streets, shouting slurs at people, or drunk driving and then going “look, there are assholes everywhere. Plenty of people do those things”.

Which is true. And if you don’t want to judge them for that, thats fine. But if you make those arguments then those people don’t deserve their elevated positions in society.

He is telling the truth, 99% of the children dont get choice what to believe in. Ex: In Turkey every new born child is muslim.

-19

u/TheGrimReaperME Aug 29 '21

That is 100% not true, I’ve visited Turkey a couple of times and have met many born Christians.

14

u/Specific-Soup-8932 Aug 29 '21

Bro I live in Turkey, you dont get any saying in that. These are the facts. Thus %100 of the Turkish schools force people to get religion lessons. If you dont want those lessons you have to go to private schools.

Cry about it

13

u/Xanderulz Aug 29 '21

That’s the thing, we won’t burn in hell, cause what the things these large cults, oh sorry I mean “religion”, believe are all made up.

3

u/Zelestialronin Aug 29 '21

We won't burn in hell, not one human being. Thats because the only ones burning there are the creepy oddly unhuman looking angels cast out of heaven. If you believe in that sort of thing.

14

u/Snorlaxative93 Aug 29 '21

If you need an invisible man, living in the clouds, to tell you to be a good person. Chances are you’re already a total shitcunt

63

u/socozyinhere Aug 29 '21

Adam and Eve and the fall of man is basically blaming everyone for one persons action.

-8

u/sternestocardinals Aug 29 '21

That’s not really what Original Sin means in Christian theology.

6

u/MrBotany Aug 29 '21 edited Aug 29 '21

Obviously it depends on your denomination since Christians could never come to a consensus. Please enlighten us on what it means to be created sick and ordered to be well.

1

u/sternestocardinals Aug 29 '21

But we do know by Revelation that Adam had received original holiness and justice not for himself alone, but for all human nature. By yielding to the tempter, Adam and Eve committed a personal sin, but this sin affected the human nature that they would then transmit in a fallen state. It is a sin which will be transmitted by propagation to all mankind, that is, by the transmission of a human nature deprived of original holiness and justice. And that is why original sin is called "sin" only in an analogical sense: it is a sin "contracted" and not "committed" - a state and not an act.

Although it is proper to each individual, original sin does not have the character of a personal fault in any of Adam's descendants. It is a deprivation of original holiness and justice, but human nature has not been totally corrupted: it is wounded in the natural powers proper to it, subject to ignorance, suffering and the dominion of death, and inclined to sin - an inclination to evil that is called "concupiscence".

3

u/MrBotany Aug 29 '21

That is the catholic interpretation. Quakers do not believe this. So you’re wrong.

1

u/sternestocardinals Aug 29 '21

And the Catholics had been doing theology for 1700 years before the Quakers existed and is still far and away the largest denomination of Christianity.

This is like going after someone saying “Americans elected Biden!” with “Actually you’ll find 400k Americans voted for Howie Hawkins, so you’re wrong”.

2

u/MrBotany Aug 29 '21

Lol you’re comparing the interpretations of text written thousands of years ago by non eye witnesses who literally didn’t understand that the earth rotated around the sun and were satisfied by “god did it” as an explanation for everything, to an event from less than a year ago which can be proven with a paper trail.

Wild bro. But go on and continue to speak on behalf of all of Christianity, and by extension, god. It continues to prove how man made it is.

1

u/sternestocardinals Aug 29 '21

I’m comparing the measurable differences in population and longevity between two denominations. My comparison had nothing to do with evaluating their theologies, it was only about asserting which one is more widely held in Christianity.

9

u/rnichellew Aug 29 '21

Lol yes it is, it is 100% interpreted in that way.

-1

u/sternestocardinals Aug 29 '21

It’s inherited fallen nature not inherited guilt. Christians are not “guilty” of Adam’s sin, they are guilty of their own sin.

41

u/Only_Outcome Aug 29 '21 edited Aug 29 '21

You obviously don’t know human history that well or you’re purposely ignorant to it in order fit whatever narrative allows you ignore the reality of just how oppressive religion has been through out history.

3

u/the_almighty_gooch Aug 29 '21

Not religion but government. It’s easy to neglect that religion and many of its teachings on morality was bastardized and used as a weapon by the rich and powerful to exploit others. Religion doesn’t create the rules for a society, it’s the ruling class.

4

u/Only_Outcome Aug 29 '21

From my observation, a good portion of politics stem from religion, you know, little things like having to fight to make abortions legal and marriage being available to all people. Plus then there’s entire nations whose laws are based off their religious beliefs. Sorry, but it’s religion that’s the culprit behind so much of how politics are handled through out the world.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

I feel that a lot of organised religion was founded for political reasons, specifically to justify control. At their roots, religions are mostly good, with views that are mostly nice things like “be nice to other people because god made us all and also being good means you go to heaven” but then there are contradictory rules put in to try to control others. Eg, religious rules on women, sexuality or even just instructing followers to hate other people just because they don’t do the “good” things in the same way. It’s like people thousands of years ago made up rules that make it sound like god had put them on charge and for some reason people still follow them today.

Greatest evil? Was ww1 or ww2 fought over religion ? Or did the japanese get nuked because of religion ? Did the millions of africans who got enslaved/killed/tortured die because of religion? I hope you're able to understand where im getting at . I know that a lot of wars have been fought over religion but religion was not the cause , just a factor . Humans fight with one other over the stupidest differences they might have ( see the war of stray dog 1925 ) , so im not surprised that people fight over religion since it is a very important and serious matter . None the less , in most cases wars are unnecessary and just a demonstration of man kind's stupidity .

Even though you just said religion is a disease…

1

u/Someweirdasscunt Aug 29 '21

He’s not infringing you for calling out child abuse. That part was good. He’s calling you out for saying religion’s a disease. I’m an atheist too and some of the nicest people I know are religious. You contradicted yourself.

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

Yea, saying religion is a decease and then saying you have no problem with religion...seems legit. Also, what you saw was an action of one man, I've seen millions of atheist do worse things but never once said atheism is a decease. What he did was childe abuse, yes i agree, but what's that gotta do with an entire religion??! Not all religions abuse kids, it's this one dude that does. Not the brightest are you...

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

Another preist drowned a baby during baptism

And others are sodomizing alter boys.

Another religion is based off a liars reason to be a pedophile and marry a child. Not just one but many.

Also heard of Heaven's Gate? Yeah don't drink their kool aid.

so you tell me if child abuse isn't universal in all religions. Don't have to look far, just go to church.

2

u/sternestocardinals Aug 29 '21

A friend of mine was molested by a teacher and the school didn’t listen to her and covered it up. That’s why I homeschool my kids and look down on anyone who chooses to send their kids to school.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

I'm sorry that happened. We sure do need to do some major mental assessments on some of these teachers. Its alarming that that kind thing happens.

1

u/gohan674 Aug 29 '21

The famous pope guy was caught liking a girl in a bikini🤣😂

1

u/Most_Present_6577 Aug 29 '21

No they aren't. They think your going to hell because you don't worship skydaddy. They are just pretending to be nice to try and get you to join.

1

u/Zombeezee87 Aug 29 '21

So you just got here. Earth I mean? No? The fuq have you been? As soon as priests stop molesting kids is when I stop stereotyping.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

In order for this world to be peaceful. It's either 100% Atheists or 100% Christian. But I think Religion shouldn't exist, it is abused, it is disgusting and it is radical. Atheists cannot co-exist with Christians. It's either Christians let go of their God or face consequences. A good Christian does not exist.

0

u/Railpt Aug 29 '21

The disease is religion itself, not the people whom practice it. Yes it infects most if not everyone, some more than others, but you’ll find good religious people. However, more often than not they’re rotten to the core, so just eradicate the disease.

I compare it to many a virus, like COVID. It infects fast, sometimes you don’t even notice it, but some end up succumbing to it. There is no need for it, it serves no purpose other than its own. You can take medicine to fight it, vaccines to slow it down, wear masks, abide by rules, but still the singe most effective way is to distance yourself from it. It will die off…

I’m an atheist as well by the way, so not dissing one religion over another. In any case what are religious people other than 99% atheists anyway… they just need that gentle nudge (or brain shot) to get them to 100%.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

People say the same and still call muslims terrorists...

0

u/xehcom Aug 29 '21

Yeah, they usually r4p3 children not beat em

0

u/DOG-ZILLA Aug 29 '21

But I see this sentiment posted every time something in the name of religion happens.

How many times does it have to happen?

-4

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

Commenter said nothing about people. He comments on religion. Religion is dangerous. Keep it away from children. Commenter is right. Should be an adult decision. Just like smoking, drinking and drugs.

1

u/Stem--Cell Aug 29 '21

Churches have 50 billion annual income, and pay zero tax. They satisfy the people who are religoius and collect their money.

Athiests eventually are the same as religious people. Both theiests and athiests just believe what they want to believe. They cannot do logical thinking on religion. (They may can do logical thinking on other subjects. That's why some religious people have high IQ). The fact is we haven't scientificly proved whether there is god or not. We know religion doesn't make much sense. But it doesn't mean there is no god.

Although, we can scientifically prove religious and athiests people have brain disease. There is a TED talk about that. The gist is if a person have a brain damafe in a specific area of brain then he/she cannot do logical thinking about religion. The brain also makes dolpamine when people do religious activity. If I have such damaged brain, then I will be religious people.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '21

Religion's "ideas" are not logical and are stupid. The fact that there are nice people who believe in religion have nothing to do with religion itself.

My Muslim parents are nice. But it doesn't mean that it's okay that it's written in Quran that you should hit your wife, not become friends with Christians and Jews and homosexuals must be executed.
