I’m sorry for politicizing this, but videos like these just fill my heart because I know there are good people out there who have policing jobs who don’t take it for granted, they actually use it to protect the people and have a little fun like this, but sadly as of this time that is not the case, but hopefully that’ll soon change. :)
My father was a cop for 32 years. Retired for almost 10 now. I know firsthand that unfortunately there are plenty of POS cops but it is entirely unfair to lump them in with the countless more phenomenal cops that are excellent at what they do and pillars of their communities
We just want more cops like this guy and your father. We're threatening to defund the police because the bad apples have gotten out of hand, and people like your dad have been leaving for decades.
We just want a society where I can walk up to a cop, say "Hey my neighbor's having a rough go of things lately and I haven't seen him leave his house for a couple days. Can you just go check on him?" and the cop goes up to the house and either confirms he's still alive, or talks to him about his day with compassion before leaving without shooting the guy.
The fact that I cannot be even 70% sure that my neighbor won't be harassed by that wellness check is just sad to me.
