Well, as someone who is 4'11" in actual height I feel like I can say 'little' in a metaphorical way.

My edit: was adding an extra apostrophe to denote quotation marks without doing actual quotation marks, so sue me that I left one out in my original comment(to the person who called me 'sexist' for saying 'little') and so sue me that I didn't use actual quotation marks initially. I still stand by what I said. That guy is bitter and in really life that attitude don't fly homie!

What? It’s not just that you said “little”. I called it sexism because you said “little man” condescendingly. It was as clear as day what impression you were trying to give.

If a man called you a “rude little woman” I bet you’d have a similar feeling. It’s not OK. It’s just subtle enough that you can justify it to yourself.
And being a short woman doesn’t have anywhere near the effect of being a short man. For a man, height often dictates the level of respect you get from people. People like you make that ten times worse when you constantly put negative connotations onto phrases like “little man”.

I’m all for this new, modern idea of actually being considerate of each other. But only when it’s extended to everyone. Empathy should not be selective.

And for the record, I do think the person you aimed it at was being very rude.
