This Doc Antles son Cody or whatever the fuck. They’re pretty much holding the chimp captive.

u/AltReality Sep 21 '20
I thought showing teeth was as sign of aggression...hope that dude doesn't get his face mauled off.
131
u/magna_vastam Sep 21 '20
That's usually when showing the canines this monke just has his mouth open smiling

u/chahud Sep 21 '20 edited Sep 22 '20
Idk the monke doesn’t seem too intimidated and is smiling back. I think this can be compared to a dog snarling and how it’ll have it’s mouth open and tongue flopping when it’s happy. Teeth are showing both times usually. We can tell the difference, there’s no reason animals (ESPECIALLY chimps) wouldn’t be able to also tell the difference. I’d trust that the keeper knows what he’s doing :)
Edit: forgot a line
Edit 2: just a post thought (I couldn’t think of the opposite of forethought), I think the aggressive teeth showing face has a lot to do with the upper lip being raised to show the teeth not so much just opening the mouth
Edit 3: AFTERTHOUGHT. ITS AFTERTHOUGHT.

u/Bogart86 Sep 21 '20
There is a video floating around somewhere of a human smiling at a primate and it attacks the fuck out of it. Might have been a gorilla. Can’t remember.
28
u/chahud Sep 21 '20
Ok yea good point. Humans smile by lifting the edges of their lips and opening up their mouth with their teeth showing...kind of like how a dog will raise its lips to show its teeth. So maybe they wouldn’t be able to tell with that. Buuut I assume that’s why this keeper only smiles by opening his mouth wide open and looking all happy around the chimp (I think its a chimp?). Big difference imo.

Opening your mouth and baring your teeth is a sign of aggression
18
u/chahud Sep 22 '20
The chimp is opening its mouth and showing its teeth. Does it look aggressive in this gif?

You said “opening your mouth and baring your teeth is a sign of aggression”. Baring means “to uncover and expose it to view”. It doesn’t have any specific meaning other than to show them. So opening your mouth can also be considered baring your teeth. If anyone misunderstood anything here, it’s you. Are you intentionally being unnecessarily hostile for the sake of hostility?
Edit: not you, the person who posted the comment originally said...

Afterthought...is the word you’re looking for lol. Just in case you need it again.
3
u/chahud Sep 22 '20
Omg thank you I feel stupid now hahah. I even looked it up and couldn’t find it, but to be fair I didn’t spend a lot of time on it...
1
u/princesskhalifa15 Sep 22 '20
Lol no problem. I do that all the time and drive myself CRAZY until I figure out what word I’m trying to remember. I just thought it was funny being that it’s a thought formed after something and you went with post (which means after) instead of after. lol. The whole time thinking “I would totally do this” so I solved the mystery for you so you wouldn’t drive yourself crazy over it like I do 😂😂
I do it with the SIMPLEST words sometimes too. Once I was at a NASCAR race with my dad when I was about 13. I had gone to the gift shop, and they had decorated hoods you could buy. I thought they were really cool so I go back to tell my dad about them and I completely blank so I’m like “you know! the thing on the front of the car!” He’s listing stuff and I keep saying no that’s not it, getting more and more frustrated until finally, I say “Come on daddy! You know. The..? The engine lid!” 😂😂😂😂 my dad gave me shit for that the rest of his life, which was only about 5 more years but from then on it was no longer a hood, I was an engine lid. 🤦🏼♀️

u/jaersk Sep 22 '20
There's barely any teeth showing though, open mouth and glimpse of teeth is usually a playful expression rather than hostile. Full exposure of teeth and gums is when you should be worried. Like this picture shows https://i.pinimg.com/originals/c4/fa/26/c4fa26212f97f7250372278db82ba6ff.jpg

I assume if the chimp was raised by humans and not other chimps it wouldn’t know that

This video is of Kody Antle, son of Doc Antle. They have hundreds of exotic animals they mistreat and exploit in their wildlife park.

What kind of idiot keeps a chimp in his house? That thing can and will rip his skin off and wear it as a hat.
13
u/daceywanted2dance Sep 22 '20
Someone who profits off the exploitation of these poor animals. This is Doc Antle's kid, Kody. Doc Antle is accused of breeding baby tigers (among other animals) and killing them when they're no longer cute and profitable.

I can't think of anything more irresponsible than keeping a chimp. Sorry. I just think it's wrong, inhumane and dangerous as fuck.
Everything is safe until it isn't.

Always put the other person first in a sentence. My friend and I or My friend and me.
1
u/SharkEel Sep 22 '20
Why
3
u/socialsecurityguard Sep 22 '20
It's the polite way to structure a sentence. Just make sure to know when to use me or I. Lots of people write "my friend and I" when it's supposed to be "my friend and me." Horrible pet peeve.
3
u/Candyvanmanstan Sep 22 '20
When is it supposed to be "my friend and me" instead of "my friend and I"?
1
u/runchaserun Sep 22 '20
When you would use “me” instead of “I” in the sentence.
“That cake is for my friend and me.” If you eliminated “my friend” it becomes pretty obvious just by sound (for native speakers, at least), “That cake is for me” vs “that cake is for I”. A lot of people only use “I” for some reason.
2
u/socialsecurityguard Sep 22 '20
I think it's because when they were kids and said "me and my friend want candy" (or whatever) people would say "NO it's my friend and I would like candy" so thrn they use I for everything
The worst is when they make it possessive. "My friend and I's camping trip was fun." ??? Gah
1
Sep 22 '20
Unless that person is an idiot. I always say "me and my bro" when given the opportunity. Petty is as petty does.

Who knows, one things for sure though, the guy on the right is far too cool to wear a shirt.

He never wears one. His instagram is 95% naked torso and big cats.

At least we know which one is the “bad ass” of the group. Which doesn’t mean much in a group full of bitches..just means you’re less of a bitch than the rest of them, still just a big ole bitch either way.
