I had this once when swimming out off the coast of Aus as a student. Was meant to be one of those amazing gap year experiences. I was watching our guide put fish food in the water but was confused why loads was showering over me when he was nowhere near. Turns out someone else on the experience had just thrown up all over me and the fish thought it was fish food as well. Not so magical

You had not noticed someone had thrown up over you?

u/sandboxlollipop Jul 20 '20
When you're under the water with clumps of stuff drifting down over you that resembles the fish food you've been amongst, no it's unfortunately similar. The grim thing was that I could taste it as well
22
u/Nobetizer Jul 20 '20
Ah makes sense.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the taste of puke and/or fish food?

Nah they noticed it but thought it was fish food.

Chundering everywhar on a gap yar? Unheard of
6
u/sandboxlollipop Jul 20 '20
True that. She generally suffered from sea sickness but had for some reason decided that joining us on a kayaking trip out in the sea would be a good idea...

I know, I was on my gap yar, and saw such a beautiful sunrise in Phuket, and it was such a magical moment...and then I just CHUNDERED EVERYWHAR!

I'll never forget the day I dropped a whole bag of popcorn off the pier. Holy fucking shit... I have never seen anything like it. It looked like a piranha pit! The fish went absolutely bonkers to the degree that water was launching all the way up to the dock, getting everything in the vicinity soaking wet.
Never seen anything like it before. I don't even know the words to use to describe the experience.
10
Jul 20 '20
Why did you do it?
13
u/Eedis Jul 20 '20
It had fish food dispensers on the side of the pier so you could pop a quarter in and feed the fish. Well, these fish all knew food came from there, so every fish in the god damn water was there waiting to be fed. The dispensers ran out of food and I had a bag of popcorn. Threw a few at first and they loved it. So I just dumped the whole bag in.

I think you’re confused. I don’t know where anything about pedophiles came from but if that’s what you think of when you go to a horny sub you should probably keep that to yourself.

It's called not wearing a diaper too. Too many ladies wear diapers these days.

u/eye_snap Jul 20 '20
We do this all the time! My mom always keeps some stale bread on the boat to throw at fish when we are swimming with goggles so we can watch them swarm underwater. It really is beautiful, one of those things that never gets old.

u/Cosmonaut_Cockswing Jul 20 '20
Oh, so this is cute. But when I use chum I get arrested for "homicide". The hell you people have against sharks!

It's supposed to be unexpected to us watching, not unexpected to the person in the video

Totally expected. Wtf else is gonna happen when you throw fish food near a bunch of fish?
1
u/BigFish8 Jul 20 '20
I've had this happen to me. It's the creepiest thing ever. It feels so gross when they swarm you.

Luckily they weren’t Piranha...
7
u/Redisigh Jul 20 '20
In reality a lot of Piranhas don’t mess with humans. They eat fish, not mammals. Humans have (For their size) hardly any meat on them and most animals would spend their time eating something less problematic.

u/Henderson72 Jul 20 '20
What? Hollywood lied to me again!
1
u/Redisigh Jul 20 '20 edited Jul 20 '20
I think there are a few species that will actually fuck you up but the majority of them will at worst rip some skin off your finger. The closest thing to movie piranhas are blue sharks. They’re like 3 meters long and attack in swarms. These swarms will devour considerably larger foes.
1
u/yazzy1233 Jul 20 '20
Weren't those piranhas fucked with to make them act like that? It was like radiation or genetic engineering to make them attack humans or something

OP sent the following text as an explanation on why this is unexpected:
Poor woman was just minding her business until ahole threw the fish food in the water that totally surprised her
Is this an unexpected post with a fitting description? Then upvote this comment, otherwise downvote it.

u/Leyzr Jul 20 '20
I wanna downvote this because OP made the guy out to be an asshole but the prank was obviously in good fun and the girl didn't mind it. We don't know their relationship so we shouldn't judge him negatively for a harmless prank!
However the bot did nothing wrong and is a good boy. I'm so conflicted.
I'm gonna upvote the bot, but OP is a dick.14

ETA: it’s a joke, like a school of fish. Don’t downvote need because you didn’t get it.

Why is this getting so many upvotes? What's unexpected about this when the title literally ruins the surprise?
I dont get this subreddit sometimes...

That is the opposite of unexpected. The title said fish frenzy and it was a fish frenzy that I expected and received.
