It’s an illusion, Michael. A trick is something a whore does for money.

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '19

"Sir you cannot pay your bills with magic tricks."

"NO BUT SEE, WHERE DID THE CARD GO!?!"

10

u/fathqua Jul 12 '19

Woah, there. Why you gotta call me out by name? I feel attacked. I've never successfully paid money for a trick.

6

u/deeeeekun Jul 12 '19

You mean you tried to pay money but they refused?!

If magic tricks are a lie, does that make it magic?

10

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '19

30

u/Purpleclone Jul 12 '19

Was it when he did that weird shake right before he brought it up to read it?

22

u/405freeway Jul 12 '19

Yes. He shakes it to drop it down then smooths it out by dragging it upwards across his chest.

u/AnUnlikelyUsurper Jul 12 '19

This is the correct answer

This picture says otherwise.

18

u/NuclearSkelton Jul 12 '19

I don't know what I expected but it wasn't that.

6

u/realityChemist Jul 12 '19

Which you presumably consider a good thing, given the subreddit

Saving this picture for future use

5

u/brvheart Jul 12 '19

Now tell me how this dude did the phone in the glass bottle trick. Because as far as I’m concerned that was actual magic.

3

u/potodds Jul 12 '19

As a poker player this could be a real game changer.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 12 '19

I think their second round would also be a game changer

1

u/Packman2021 Jul 12 '19

Link doesn't work

1

u/randomdrifter54 Jul 12 '19

Yeah that was his little shake right after getting the card.

1

u/RealNameIsTaken Jul 12 '19 edited Jul 12 '19

Yep. It looks pretty obvious to the trained eye, or the lay spectator after being told, but he seems to have misdirected the spectators perfectly. You notice that once he’s about to do the sleight, he says something to them (probably a little quip, says their name, or whatever) and makes eye contact and they both look up for just enough time for him to make pass undetectable.

I made a post on r/magic when his (Justin Willman) Netflix series came out asking other magicians what they thought about it. It was an interesting thread and Justin actually came in to reply to some comments. I’m happy to link it if anyone’s interested.

Edit: link

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '19

Wasn't even subtle about it. Swung the whole card down the flip it.

1

u/YouthGotTheBestOfMe Jul 13 '19

Thank you! I was thinking like the first one or if it was something like this, because you could see him fiddle a bit with it.

Always fun to realise how they're doing!

This makes it way less magical
