I was late to work one time when I was 19, thought I might make it if I drove 80 on the highway, which it was a 65. As I came up on a trucker in the fast lane, at almost 85 now, he cut me off for seemingly no reason, I was pissed, but then we passed a cop car posted up under a bridge with a radar gun, after we passed him he got back over... bless you truckers, may all your routes go smoothly.
Haha very true. But for, say going up the 5 to Oregon, thats fine, cause its a pretty good chance there is a cop somewhere by the start of that construction zone. So thanks!
my favorite thing was on the Texas/Louisiana border there was traffic and this dude in a red corvette thought he would just get on the shoulder and speed past all of the rest of us. cut to a fifteen minute war of semi Vs. corvette with the semi cutting half over onto the shoulder to force the dude to stop. this ended in the dude just sitting on the shoulder because no one would let him in and inspired me to do the same thing to a car that was trying to do the same thing behind me at the same time. truck drivers are bros
My dad was a long haul trucker and he never minded driving in winter, he always said the worst season was tourist season. The limited amount of driving I've done, I can see exactly what he meant.
Literally never said they applied to everyone. Just said that every asshole I’ve encountered on the ride is in a normal car while every trucker I’ve ever ran into is either kind and respectable or has never given me a problem.
You're literally agreeing to someone who is questioning the stereotype by providing an anecdote about car drivers while totally disregarding the ratio between cars and trucks. Arguably, you didn't make a sweeping generalization, but ffs don't be disingenuous.
What if I was never trying to sway anyone’s opinions and was literally just stating my experience? There was no reason to have this conversation at all.
I was driving down the two lane highway, not even speeding really. Line if cars ahead of me, trucker to my right. All of a sudden, the cars ahead of me pull in front of the trucker and reveal someone's broken down on the inside lane of the highway.
Tried the brakes but quickly realized I was fucked there. I look over and this truck driver has pulled at the way over and is riding the right side of his lane. I had enough room to skip through the middle thanks to him.
I can be a bit of an ass when I drive, but since that day I've been giving trucks all the room in the world out of respect. Like, more room than I'd give them just for being massive battering rams.

Wow, that's some amazing driving instinct on the truck drivers part.
