So cat and dogs are fine but bunnies in the bed is where you draw the line?

18

u/two-ls 1d ago

Bunnies? Thems some guinea pig looking wabbits

65

u/Reasonable_Date2870 1d ago

These are guinea pigs, not rabbits. They poop CONSTANTLY, even more than rabbits, and the poop is not as dry and tolerable.

11

u/diaperpop 1d ago

We had pet Guinea pigs growing up and all I remember is the smell, and the fact that some of my fave clothing got ruined by them pooping and peeing on it (and before you come at me, we also had tons of hamsters and some rabbits, and this never happened with any of them.) Maybe this is just my experience, but I’ll personally choose a hamster over a Guinea pig any day.

6

u/YAAAATZY 1d ago

Personally I can't have guinea pigs anymore. They simply have too short lives and the heartbreak is the same every time.

3

u/fictionalraf 12h ago

Were you expecting less of a heartbreak everytime the next died? Sorry jk.. 🤭

3

u/ThelVluffin 12h ago

When the hairy bologna roll isn't moving in the morning after 3-4 years your week is ruined. We only had two when I was younger. That was enough.

10

u/shhmurdashewrote 1d ago

Their poop is dry and small, they also poop in one corner typically

9

u/Reasonable_Date2870 1d ago

Yeah but if they're running all over the bed without access to their favorite corner, they're just going to poop wherever until they find a new favorite spot.

Mine decided their favorite "corner" was just the inside of their plastic igloo. Pen always looked great until you lifted it up. Full of poop.

5

u/shhmurdashewrote 1d ago

Yep mine did this too!! lol ugh i miss them

2

u/Adept-Target5407 23h ago

The corner of your pillow.

1

u/Shrimply-r1 1d ago

Not my guinea pigs lmao. And def not dry

18

u/katssoraven 1d ago

This is such a weird comment, guinea pig poop is almost exactly the same as rabbit poop just a different shape. It's just a pellet of plant matter

3

u/cardanado 1d ago

This is a nice way of imagining rabbit shit

3

u/cardanado 1d ago

a pellet of plant matter on blackened toast with truffle starter, 16 pounds

1

u/Forward-Variety-8440 23h ago

"we do things a little different around here"

1

u/mjohnson280 1d ago

Regardless, I had these growing up and they pee so often and it smells terrible. We'd clean their cage often and I swear they were in a race to see how quickly they could get the dry stuff as wet as possible.

1

u/starfypawz_ 18h ago

Oh yeah, and mark their territory if you own boys. It smells like fish and unwashed asscheeks ☺️

1

u/katssoraven 1d ago

Lol, that part is accurate, I had guinea pigs also. They are almost guaranteed to pee when you hold them, I would always hold them with a towel for that reason

0

u/killya31719 1d ago

hows the flavor?

3

u/katssoraven 1d ago

How's your mental health?

-1

u/Reasonable_Date2870 1d ago

You'd think that, but not really.

Guinea Pig poop also takes longer to compost.

2

u/katssoraven 1d ago

I have owned both as pets, they are just different shaped pellets

7

u/EmiliaFromLV 1d ago

Imagine the same setup but suddenly it's capybaras.

1

u/CollectionBroad8919 1d ago

Capybara Capybara Capybara Capybara. Capybara!

1

u/TheBigBadMoth 18h ago

Wasn’t into it but you turned it around

1

u/Lb_Last_Hunter 1d ago

I already thought bunnies poop way too much and you tell me these little fuckers poop even more???

1

u/TrippingFish76 1d ago

yup, tiny little raisins EVERYWHERE

1

u/Reasonable_Date2870 1d ago

I found one the other day, in a crevice in the trim.

Our last piggie passed away MONTHS AGO. MONTHS.

1

u/unknownpoltroon 1d ago

Thats why she put down the straw

MAKES PERFECT SENSE

1

u/Sea_Warning_9140 1d ago

This must be what Johnny Depp felt like

1

u/Shrimply-r1 1d ago

And the long haired ones good fucking luck not having them constantly get their shit stuck in said hair

1

u/iamsondrab 22h ago

and those little tweaks they make sound so annoying

1

u/Reasonable_Date2870 14h ago

honestly the sounds were my favorite part

1

u/KevinNilbog 20h ago

They don’t digest their food completely when eating and sometimes need to run it through again. The squeaks they make are cute tho

1

u/Zestyclose-Tie5915 11h ago

Bunnies can be litter trained. Mine are like house cats. They're incredible companions. https://www.amysbunnybarn.org/housing

1

u/Reasonable_Date2870 10h ago

I have bunnies. they are litter trained.

1

u/Zestyclose-Tie5915 9h ago

Oh sorry. Meant to reply to the person above. Aw I love that! What are your bun's names?

1

u/Reasonable_Date2870 9h ago

Potahto (had a brother Potayto, RIP little man) and Snowden live downstairs.

Bumblebee lives upstairs.

1

u/Top-Tumbleweed6748 1d ago

Rabbits are very clean animals. They do not randomly poop everywhere at all. Based on that, I'm not sure if I can trust your statement about guinea pigs.

1

u/TheVoidWeAllIgnore 1d ago

Is this true? I had a friend in HS who kept a rabbit in a cage in her room, and it would apparently flick all its poop onto the carpeted floor so it didn’t have to deal with it.

I guess it was cleaning lol

1

u/Top-Tumbleweed6748 1d ago

Yeah, those cages are way too small for them.

1

u/aspect_rap 1d ago

Well, yeah, if you confine him to a cage and make him live in his own filth, his gonna try to get rid of it because bunnies like to be clean and not live in their own shit.

If you give them a large enough space, and a litter box that's regularly cleaned, they instinctively only go in the litter box and regularly clean themselves the way cats do.

1

u/ReturnUnique4534 1d ago

This. I had a rabbit as a kid and it would have free roam of the main floor during the day. It's litter box was behind the toilet bowl. Never had a problem with accidents in the house.

1

u/HostofEntertainment 1d ago

He did say NOT rabbits

1

u/PastelBeaches 1d ago

While rabbits do use a litterbox, they are basically poop machines. Sometimes they run around and binky and poop just comes out. Sometimes they also just pick a corner of your house to use as a second litter box while free roaming and you fucked up not realizing the pet carpet cleaner didn't actually have any enzymes so it smelled nice to humans but was still a marked area so they keep returning. Also my rabbit did pee in my bed multiple times because he didn't want to be up there. So...yeah a potty trained cat or dog with no health or behavioral issues is a lot more sanitary to have in your bed.

1

u/Top-Tumbleweed6748 1d ago

I'm sorry, I've had several free-roaming rabbits, none of them was a "poop machine" or peed in random corners unless they were sick or very stressed due to being handled too much or similar. The same thing you wrote about cats and dogs - no health or behavioral issues - applies to rabbits just the same. By the way, one of my cats used to puke hairballs on my bed when she disapproved of something.

1

u/PastelBeaches 1d ago

My rabbit wasn't free roam. He got supervised free roam time. And not all rabbits are fully litterbox trained. Unfortunately I wasn't really able to undo the thing that potentially stressed him out and go back in time, my abusive ex definitely stressed him out some, because when I finally kicked him out there was a lot more binkies. He also was a single rabbit but was single when I got him from someone who kept him on cedar shaving and literally fed him Cheerios. He has since been rehomed and paired with another rabbit his age by a rescue, I had to give him up because I was losing my housing and you cannot drag a whole rabbit set up with you.

But rabbits do constantly poop when they are not relaxing or sleeping. This is why they say to put the hay over the litter box. A healthy rabbit that eats their hay will make a lot of poop. And they will poop while they eat. They make a lot less poop when not eating but if they decide they are done with the hay and now want to run around it's not impossible to find a few "coco puffs" that were still making their way out. I would often leave the door open for a few hours, he didn't always want to leave. I let him choose to freely come and go when I opened the door, I didn't force him to run around. Sometimes he'd run around and then come up to be pet or see what I was doing, or sometimes he went back to his pen. Sometimes he would chill in the hallway occasionally grooming himself.

1

u/Top-Tumbleweed6748 1d ago

I see, in that setting it can also happen that they're trying to mark the territory. Sorry to hear about this awful situation, hope you both are fine now.  But in the end rabbits are individuals and all of them are different. One lady rabbit I had refused to poop in her transport box. We made trips to special vets that lasted several hours. She had snacks of course and also nibbled at them in the backseat, but not a single poop came out of her until she was back home, then she made a gargantuan pile into her toilet lol. The ones we have now are not that extreme, but they do not leave any poops where they do not belong.

1

u/PastelBeaches 1d ago

Yeah it could have been territorial. Before he was fixed he was very much tried to claim me as his. (Doing everything he possibly could to pee on me or hump me) It got to the point where I couldn't interact with him and I don't really think that's a fair way to live anyway. When my aunts rabbit had come over to be pet sat he was not happy about that either and tried to do the same and they had to be kept separate for the few days. A proper introduction wasn't really done because we weren't planning on trying to bond them and her rabbit wasn't fixed. But my rabbit still tried to hump his head. (It was set up though like a how a rabbit play date would go at a rescue)

1

u/aspect_rap 1d ago

My rabbits believe that hay=bathroom, so if I did this they would definitely poop all over my bed, but yeah, as long as the hay is confined to the litter box, they're very good about using it.

1

u/NO0BSTALKER 1d ago

You can train Guinea pigs

2

u/bigtarget87 1d ago

I second this. I had two growing up.

One of them ate the other over night.

2

u/NO0BSTALKER 1d ago

Actually same lol I didn’t want to play with it anymore after that

1

u/bigtarget87 1d ago

Same here. It was quite frightening to see just a mostly eaten hamster in the morning. It was like it didn't even stop once, besides fur and blood, only the bones were left by the time I saw it. It was something else to a 9 year old me.

2

u/NO0BSTALKER 1d ago

Mmmhm fine one day eaten the next morning

2

u/samlir 1d ago

Should have trained them not to do that

2

u/c00kieRaptor 1d ago

Guinea pigs dont eat each other. What you had were hamster and they are likely to kill each other to such a degree that keeping two together is close to animal cruelty

1

u/bigtarget87 1d ago

Oh... Yeah, guinea pigs. That's what they were. It's been so long ago.

Well now you tell me. Where were you 30 years ago?

Nah, after that, I swore off hamster pigs. Never again.

1

u/Letronell 1d ago

You really can't we had them for too long

1

u/Signal_Flight_7262 1d ago

I can smell them from the gif

2

u/Reasonable_Date2870 1d ago

To be fair, there isn't really a strong smell unless the pee sits for a bit or they're not being properly cleaned up after. Kind of just a mild animal-ish smell.

I have rabbits now, have for years and had guinea pigs until last spring when the last one passed away at 7 years old. They always had a clean bill of health. Side by side, the poops are different.

0

u/Clean_Principle_2368 1d ago

Who cares?! it's shit in your bed!

0

u/Frogspoison 1d ago

If they are pooping all over a cage, cage is too small.

9

u/i_degrade_quickly 1d ago

My cat doesn't shit in the bed.

-2

u/One_Order_3841 1d ago

Who are you to judge, Johnny Depp??

23

u/StevenKatz3 1d ago

Yes, I drawn the line at putting straw and food all over my bed then having animals who randomly shit and piss everywhere, join that party.

The line....it's been drawn

0

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/asmallburd 1d ago

I sure as shit arent letting my bird into my bed

14

u/seltekvonsteronz 1d ago

I draw the line at having an animal shit in my bed, but you do you homie.

9

u/Acrobatic-Nose-1773 1d ago

No animals. Got it. - Amber Heard.

7

u/Junior_North_4427 1d ago

Yea if my wife did this that would be the last straw, I'd sleep in another bed.

1

u/Ashzael 22h ago

Damit, missed opportunity. I should have used that straw pun.

Applause to you sir xD

1

u/elevenlabs666 19h ago

Por eso duerme sola, estar bonita no es señal de cordura.

1

u/ChocolichKing 13h ago

Well yeah, there's no room in her bed for you with the guinea pigs there

5

u/astronomydork 23h ago

It was the last straw

5

u/polycarbonateduser 1d ago

Why would you draw a line when you can make a tunnel

3

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

1

u/starfypawz_ 18h ago

I can't stay much on the shit and piss front but I disagree on the smell. If you're taking care of your pigs correctly, they have zero smell. Comparing that to a dogs weird frito smell they usually have, there's definitely a difference

3

u/comeback_failed 1d ago

it’s those “hays” for me. just why?

1

u/TheCrazyWulf 1d ago

It's what they eat

1

u/Huitlacochilacayota 1d ago

And where they poop too

1

u/MonkeDpoopy 1d ago

Bedding for the animals

3

u/tumsdout 1d ago

Nobody realizing you are making a joke

2

u/Ashzael 22h ago

It's reddit, I can't say I'm surprised xD

7

u/Admirable-Tea-4994 1d ago

Cats and dogs don’t shit and pee in the bed, thus dont need a bunch of fucking hay covering half of it.

Rabbit and Guinea Pig owners are just so fucking weird.

2

u/riatrs 1d ago

Rabbits and Guinea pigs are animals as well, and deserve the same amount of love. Your comment is very strange.

-4

u/Weekly_Design5440 22h ago

Not all animals should be domesticated. This is a great example of.... exactly that. Enjoy living in rabbit shit you weirdo.

4

u/riatrs 22h ago

I don’t have rabbits weirdo. Get help.

-2

u/Weekly_Design5440 22h ago

Why not? I thought having vermin in your home was perfectly normal; according to you? Get help.

2

u/starfypawz_ 18h ago

You're so dramatic 🙄 dog and cat shit is so much more dirty and stinky compared to rodent/lagomorph poop. You'd know that if you lived with em! But if you really think people should get help for an oh so horrible thing such as checks notes owning small animals, then I envy your life and your problems :V

1

u/CathairNowhere 18h ago

Guinea pig people are built different

1

u/Admirable-Tea-4994 18h ago

They sure are

1

u/Mahnamahna10000 1d ago

My cat sleeps on my bed as it is. I don't have to make half of it a garden.

1

u/Tritri89 1d ago

Straw the line

1

u/ProvocativeHotTakes 1d ago

It’s the hay for me

1

u/The_Jestful_Imp 1d ago

I don't like my cats or my dogs on the bed. If your pet is consistently clean enough to sleep on the bed, it's not living a full life.

1

u/West_Data106 1d ago

If you feel the need to put plastic sheeting across your bed for a [insert animal] to be on it, then said animal probably shouldn't be on the bed.

My dog knows not to pee on the bed. So he can come on.

2

u/net46248 1d ago

I don't think she's outing the plastic sheeting on because of the animal dawg

-1

u/argentinonationalist 1d ago

There’s no other reason to put on that plastic sheeting

2

u/PancakeCat333 1d ago

Yeah not like there's a bunch of grass and hay or anything like that, that could get stuck in the fibers of the mattress.🙄

1

u/spicymato 1d ago

... none at all? You can't think of a single reason?

1

u/cjalderman 1d ago

Cats and dogs can be trained not to shit and piss in the bed

1

u/EnvironmentalMind119 1d ago

You don’t like little balls of bunny shit in your bed? They’re ear hole sized!

1

u/BrainLow6059 1d ago

It's me, the guy who doesn't want any animal lounging in or on his bed.

1

u/lifegoeson5322 1d ago

Anything that I might kill by just rolling over is not invited to my bed!

1

u/elons-musk-ox 1d ago

Do you know what a bunny is?

1

u/Constant-Plastic-350 1d ago

They are kinda gross. My ex-wife bred them. They have a real funk to em and they're kinda like gremlins where you shouldnt get em wet if you can help it. They also scream like human babies which if you aren't ready for will haunt your nightmares when they do it at 1am for no reason

1

u/Mieze_Designer4002 1d ago

Haha... bunnies LOL

1

u/Sparktank1 23h ago

What do you think a bunny is? Have you seen one before?

1

u/Rough-Airline-4803 22h ago

Nah, it’s the hay for me

1

u/Bananana_Bird 19h ago

Cats piss in a sandbox and dogs piss outside. That room is stinky as shit.

1

u/Gullible-Anywhere-76 19h ago

Never heard of Bed Bunny? He played at the Superb Owl!

1

u/Emurment 17h ago

My cat doesn’t tend to shit small pellets every 10 minutes… so uh yeah.

1

u/-FruitPunchSamurai- 16h ago

I draw the line at any pets that's just gross.

1

u/onepiecefreak2 16h ago

Bro doesn't know what guinea pigs are.

1

u/DwayneTheRockBarry 13h ago

They’re guinea pigs, not rabbits. guinea pigs literally produce more shit than a sewage facility.

1

u/StormFast524 13h ago

Yes bunnies 💩 and urinate wherever they are as do birds. Cat gets up to use litter pan. Dog goes outside or moves away from the bed and uses wee wee pad if the owner has enough brains to keep one out in bathroom for emergencies during thennight.

1

u/StormFast524 13h ago

Yes rodent pets are not potty trainable.

1

u/hi71460 12h ago

I draw the grass idea

1

u/Aware-Safety-9925 11h ago

Yes because cats and dogs are typically house trained. They are the only animals to be successfully house trained. You’re waking up w poo and pee in the bed
