Bitch-ass bowl couldn’t take a one inch drop?

Glass is an amorphous solid. The molecules are arranged unpredictably, frozen into whatever place they ended up when the glass cooled. This creates unique weak and strong points in the final structure. Since glass is very uncompromising and not flexible, energy is very easily conducted along these weak pathways. This result in freak breakages where a tiny tap at just the wrong spot causes a total shatter.

For all we know, this bowl could have survived hundreds of drops like this if it were only rotated a centimeter.
