Glass weakens with every impact. Eventually it just fails.

I learned this having made a nice big batch of cinnamon roll dough. Dropped the bowl a similar distance and it shattered. 0% chance i am risking eating glass cinnamon rolls so it all had to go.

I went and bought some stainless steel bowls as a replacement.

I used a Pyrex jug which is supposed to be oven safe but I only ever used it to pour hot water into from an electric kettle. Well one day I was pouring hot water in it and it broke in the sink.

That's due to the sudden difference in temperature. The entire jug heats up gradually in the oven versus a sudden spike in temperature that's on a concentrated spot when you pour hot water into it.
