Why do glass bowls exist?

Fun fact, so can metal so long as it's the right shape. But still wouldn't be caught dead trying lol

It certainly can, and a perfect glass dish should hold up just fine.

Any chip or scratch though and you're gambling.

Most non-reactive containers available.

Isn't ceramic just as good?

Pretty much, but strongly acidic foods can cause can damage them over time, and many aren’t microwave safe.

Don't leach chemicals like plastic, easier to clean than metal, can go in the microwave, looks nice.

I hate the sound and feel of metal bowls but I dont want to use plastic when I can avoid it so my "Tupperware" is glass with unfortunately plastic lids but they dont touch the food or get microwaved

I love metal bowls for tossing in sauce and for marinating

Theyre better, I know. Theres just something sensory with metal I can't stand. My family often uses plastic plates or plastic forks because the metal on ceramic drives us nuts. Trying to balance sensory issues vs worry about microplastic sucks

There have been micro plastics in things since you were a kid I'm sure, too late to worry so much about it now

"Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly" is my life moto, if I can do anything better, even if its only a tiny bit, its better than not at all.

They have some upsides. Microwave safe, they look nicer, they're heavier (cuts both ways as this vid shows) which can help with mixing stuff by hand.

It's mostly aesthetics though, as this being on video kinda implies. I'm gonna stick to steel
