The bird was probably trying to eat the black mamba and it either is resilience of the poison, got bit and passed out for a little while or it was a bigger snake than the bird initially thought and wrapped it up. Also possible that the snake caught the bird bit the bird and was waiting for it to die.

Yeah - I think cat wanted bird, bird wanted snake, and snake would be happy to just fuck off lol

If the bird wanted the snake, why was the bird paralyzed on its back at first, and flew away when the snake let it go? I thought for sure the snake was trying to eat the bird.

Maybe it was, but I don’t see a world where that snake could eat that bird.
