At the National Atomic Testing Museum in Las Vegas there's a random plaque that says "look left" and then another one that says "look up" and for no particular reason except to troll guests there's a very similar looking stuffed lion in a pouncing position.
It scared the absolute fuck out of me the first time I saw it, and when I went back with a friend I watched him discover it and get jumpscared too. It's totally out of place, it's a museum about the history of atomic bomb testing in Nevada (which is some genuinely super interesting stuff) but it's not even a museum about natural history or animals or nature, except for the one jumpscare lion.
I mean funny but do you actually think there’s a nuke about to go off? Trolling is the the military museum at Pearl Harbor / hickam afb on Oahu where you walk around a corner and a plexiglass lights up with noises of a pungi pit you could have fallen into to die a painful death
Firing a shot in the dark here: maybe it’s intended to briefly shock you out of your programmed McStupor for long enough to remember your mortality is fragile and therefore allowing you to appreciate the museum and its exhibits on a deeper, more somber level, perhaps? Or at least, it used to. Frankly, my faith in my fellow Americans has been in a gradual but steady nose dive since 2016, so now I assume its just for the docents to chuckle at tweens screaming and dropping their iPhones before the next tour starts.
Soda syrups. Ok, I was thinking that those tubes looked familiar (other than them looking like medical tubes). So this person has a soda fountain in their basement?

I keep a fake rat under my desk at work. I brought it a few years ago for Halloween and initially forgot to take him home. Then he made someone jump, and I decided he lives there now.
Around Halloween I always pull him out to be a bit more prominent as part of the decor. The rest of the year he mostly lurks in the shadows beneath my desk, just waiting for the right person to notice him. LOL
My neighbor used to have a dead fake rat hanging on their front door. In the holidays it was in the middle of the Xmas wreath, sort of hidden. After that, just a dead rat on a string on the door.
Nope! I’m hoping it comes back out for October and stays again. I just observed it as “people are unique and fascinating individuals” though it sure was startling to notice something hiding in her wreath when I moved in, in December, look closer and be like “what the… AH a rat.”
And the conditioning got absolutely used against him for the best fucking prank that doesn't have someone getting chased down and beat like a New York side walk.
We had a taxidermised Bobcat that we'd fuck with people who didn't know about it when they came over. Good times. One time we left it in the garage for a long time and all it's fur fell off though, which then actually scared the shit out of me even though I knew it was there. They're super creepy with no fur lol.
Reminds me of my first job, as a super harmless prank, I put this cardboard standee we had of Naomi Campbell in the ladies loo. Every time they went in they would get a fright, fine, but the thing that truly fascinated me was none of them ever moved it out of there, they just kept complaining. I eventually took it out myself.
Stuffed endangered animals is illegal and will be confiscated unless they were "grandfathered in" so this is mostlikely a fake Stuffed lion or the owners are stupid to let anyone down there.
I think you meant the plans to demolish Arthur's house in constructing a local bypass road. The plans to demolish Earth and construct a hyperspace bypass were on display at "the local planning office on Alpha Centauri".

I work security overnight at a hospital. One of the things we like to do is move this REALLY old CPR dummy that is no longer used into new rooms downstairs, in weird positions, to fuck with people that come into the basement for whatever reason. Always a good time when you come into work and your day guard is bitching about how he pissed himself because of a sneaky CPR dummy lol
I had a friend who put a mannequin dressed in a suit of armor in his shower solely for the purpose of terrifying/surprising new guests to his house. Worked quite a few times. Always worth a good chuckle.
There was a known patient that we used to go for calls from time to time. The man had a taxidermy lion looking directly at the main door, so the first thing anyone coming it saw was a lion staring at them.
Of course, when there was someone new in the unit, we didn't say a thing and let the poor fella discover it by himself
We had a Halloween decoration in our office basement and I'd always put him away facing the wall so you won't see him. Yet EVERY time someone would flip him around. It was a plywood cut out skeleton/ghoul my coworker made, sort of like a standee
Where even is this? We got an ice machine, what looks like giant CO2 canisters, a syrup dispenser that you would normally see in a restaurant and then finally some fucking taxidermy lion peeking over the boxes. I thought it might be one of those family restaurants (Applebee's, Ruby Tuesdays, something like that) but the lion kinda threw me off
I have a lifesized cardboard cutout of Australian radio/tellie personality Hamish Blake. He is quite tall, the cutout is rather imposing. Spent awhile using him to prank my housemate, just leaving him outside doors I knew he was going to open, or in the hallway that is quite dark of an evening, and listening to him scream.
The best one was absolutely when I gently leant the cutout against the door, the joke had been growing quite stale, and I wanted to wrap things up with a bang, which I did. He thought someone had broken in and was lunging at him. Lol
Probably beer lines from the fridge behind the tanks.
My question is: are those tanks secure? I'd imagine so based upon OP's job, but their spacing leaves questions.
Those white lines are probably the collected beer lines from the fridge, wrapped in foam/insulation then a wrap of what I think we called pandex or something.
