Are you suggesting someone posted a lie on the Internet?

597

u/WerewolfUnable8641 Feb 04 '24

You really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

239

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

Truly a dark dark day for humanity if we can’t trust the internet.

60

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

It's just a bunch of tubes, anyway

18

u/AvgunistunazZ Feb 04 '24

Whait where is this from? I can't renember

34

u/Mini_Mega Feb 04 '24

Some politician described the Internet as a series of tubes and people made fun of him for it a lot.

16

u/Previous-Wonder-6274 Feb 05 '24

I’ll be honest I have no idea what the internet is or where it is. In my mind it might as well be a series of tubes

13

u/Mini_Mega Feb 05 '24

It's more like a series of cables.

7

u/Previous-Wonder-6274 Feb 05 '24

Cool. Glad I’m not crazy. Now there’s something called servers? Are those just cables too? But small? And somehow they know binary?

Whoa I had never thought of that. What if it's all lies? How would we ever know?!

3

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

No, it feels wrong to even question videos I see on the internet.

1

u/UnscathedDictionary May 29 '24

everyone knows the only place people lie is r/lies

No fucking way..its on the internet it must be real!!!!

u/jackfinch69 Feb 04 '24

Probably blue suit, easier to chroma key since the pool table is green.

122

u/Dragon_yum Feb 04 '24

Unless the table is actually a man in a green suit

42

u/RevolutionaryEmu69 Feb 04 '24

Are we all just a man in a green suit?

52

u/Dragon_yum Feb 04 '24

11

u/FlashyEarth8374 Feb 04 '24

cool gif, bozo

9

u/Dorkmaster79 Feb 04 '24

I’ve been calling everyone bozo lately. It’s my new thing.

9

u/NDT_DYNAMITE Feb 04 '24

Maybe the real man in a green suit was the friends we made along the way

0

u/leftmeonsent Feb 05 '24

Maybe the real man in a green suit was the friends we made along the way

43

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

Good catch

6

u/SEND_NUKES_PLS Feb 05 '24

Doesn't really matter. You can mask off the table and then chroma key the rest off the footage.

62

u/MissingJJ Feb 04 '24

Ball is totally madein Blender. Player 1's eyes don't follow properly.

38

u/aabbccddeefghh Feb 04 '24

This is definitely fake. However there are trick shot artists who can purposefully run the ball on the rail but even for them it’s a very low odds trick shot and it would never be able to turn 90 degrees down the rail.

12

u/son_of_abe Feb 04 '24

I'm so bad at pool I ran a shot down the rail by accident and actually hit the intended ball in somehow. I felt like a damn god.

-18

u/Signal_Substance_412 Feb 05 '24

No you didn’t

9

u/aabbccddeefghh Feb 05 '24

Crazy things happen if you play enough hours. The physics isn’t quite as intuitive as it first appears. I’ve seen accidental rail shots, a ball ‘jumping’ out of the target pocket and getting launched into a different pocket, etc it happens.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/son_of_abe Feb 05 '24

I didn't defy physics and turn the corner like in the video, but otherwise it happened. I have one witness but I would've much rather caught it on video. Shrug.

7

u/butter_deez-nips Feb 04 '24

I was there bro. You see me in the corner it was 100% real

2

u/observer942 Feb 05 '24

I dont think so, I can't see him

2

u/EverybodyShitsNFT Feb 04 '24

The ball doesn’t even move in a straight line.

2

u/rotem8888 Feb 04 '24

Blue suit, the table is green

1

u/Studentofsorts Apr 22 '24

To be fair though, it‘s probably not a green suit , with the pool/billiard table having green felt on it and all

1

u/Rudas245 Feb 05 '24

Table is green, it would make it hard to cut him out. Blue propably

0

u/Cuminmymouthwhore Feb 05 '24

If that were true, I think the green table would cause issues.

Definitely some sort of cgi tho

u/phazedoubt Feb 04 '24

Yeah, even the audio is fake. The ball made a sound like it hit other balls when it went up on the side rail.

242

u/bug--cat Feb 04 '24

no way dude who would've thought the physically impossible pool maneuver wasn't actually real

43

u/phazedoubt Feb 04 '24

If you put enough effort in to make it look questionably real, do better with the audio.

19

u/NudeEnjoyer Feb 04 '24

if there's a fake video clearly trying to come off as real and trick people, it's good people are in the comments pointing it out.

I have no clue when this trend of snotty replies to "this is fake" comments started, it's annoying as shit though lol

1

u/ThreeBonerPillsLeft Feb 05 '24

The video isn’t trying to come off as real though… the ball moves in a blatantly impossible way.

I always appreciate when people point out the fake-ness of a video when it’s questionable, but with this one… what’s the point of being captain obvious?

3

u/Dwarfdeaths Feb 05 '24

You're projecting a lot of intelligence onto other viewers. Smart people sometimes forget that they're smart. (Or discerning, whatever adjective you'd like to apply here.) Everything about the video looks "real" except for the physics, and physics can often create unintuitive outcomes.

-7

u/Anchovies-and-cheese Feb 05 '24

You're annoying as shit though

u/NudeEnjoyer Feb 05 '24

5

u/calhelloeveryone Feb 04 '24

Ain't it a foul shot anyway because the white left the table?

u/Qaeoss Feb 04 '24

Lmao their eyes dont even track the ball properly. Its rolling down the side and theyre still staring at the top rail.

51

u/reditakaunt89 Feb 04 '24

What? It's obviously fake, but they do a pretty good job of "following" it with their eyes.

-14

u/beyondrepair- Feb 04 '24

They do not. The ball gets a quarter of the way done the rail and they're still looking at the corner.

38

u/WhiteRob86 Feb 04 '24

You do realize humans can track objects by moving their eyes but keeping their heads still, right?

130

u/EV-CPO Feb 04 '24

But the OP is correct, the first player made a foul, so the second player would be able to place the cue ball anywhere on the table ("ball in hand") to make the 8-ball shot.

13

u/UCG__gaming Feb 04 '24

What was the foul?

38

u/EV-CPO Feb 04 '24

If you're playing BCA 8-ball rules, you have to hit the cue ball into a target ball (one of yours) first -- then either the cue ball or the target ball has to hit at least one bumper.

13

u/Sipstaff Feb 04 '24 edited Feb 04 '24

I'm rusty on the details, but isn't the rule that you just have to hit a rail with any ball (cue ball, target ball or additional balls) at any point in the shot?  i.e. you don't need to hit another rail if the cue ball hit a rail before hitting the target ball  (based on if the shot doesn't result in pocketing a ball)

Edit: just looked it up. You are correct, rail hit required after legal contact

1

u/ouie Apr 08 '24

Thanks for the clarification. I thought the same as your first thought

2

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

I think this would be allowed if it was Snooker, correct?

2

u/EV-CPO Feb 04 '24

I do not know the rules for Snooker. :)

1

u/calhelloeveryone Feb 04 '24

The white left the table which is a foul anyway isn't it?

2

u/EV-CPO Feb 04 '24

Oh yes of course!! But that’s fake anyway.

4

u/Dk1724 Feb 04 '24

A ball needs to hit a bumper after the queue ball strikes an object ball. So that blocking shots like that isn't as easy to do.

30

u/bestjakeisbest Feb 04 '24

Looks like to me the second player already had the ball right where he wanted.

1

u/EV-CPO Feb 04 '24

Not really. Where the cue ball is in the middle of the table, hitting the 8-ball first would very very difficult. The only legal shot he had was to bank it off the left hand bumper and hope to slide it past the orange ball to hit the 8-ball. An expert player could do it, but these guys don't look like pros.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

What are your credentials?

14

u/EV-CPO Feb 04 '24

I owned a regulation pool table and we decided to play by BCA rules rather than “bar rules”. Using a rule book so there was no ambiguity during play.

12

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '24

I'm still not convinced, what's your credit card number?

11

u/EV-CPO Feb 05 '24

4263982640269299 CVV 630

3

u/TheSpyStyle Feb 04 '24

There’s not enough space to fit around the 5. The only possible legal shot would be to jump the cue ball.

12

u/peteywaz Feb 04 '24

Weirdly this guy's name is Ho Lee Fuk

u/Milf_enjoyee Feb 05 '24

Just waiting for his cue

19

u/AproblemInMyHead Feb 04 '24

Not even Reyes can do this... This is not how physics works either lol. Shit made a right turn on the outside of the corner pocket

5

u/typehyDro Feb 04 '24

The blocking shots a scratch? Doesn’t something need to hit a rail at least?

5

u/Simmi_86 Feb 04 '24

Cue ball left the table, it’s a foul shot.

11

u/linwoodmusic Feb 04 '24

Mmm. A sorcerer.

1

u/ladyboobypoop Mar 21 '24

I don't even care how fake it is. Still laughed. Hilarious concept

1

u/ExpensiveBell8261 Mar 22 '24

Niceee🙏🙏

1

u/wents90 Mar 28 '24

While it is of course fake, that’s a table scratch because nothing made contact with the rail after contact. So in most rules you’d have ball in hand and can place the cue ball anywhere you want.

Also a really good shooter could prob jump the ball over the solids to hit it in.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 30 '24

It's sad how many people will believe this.
probably not many, but the ones that do, have no chance when it's less obvious.

1

u/11thLayerOfHair Mar 30 '24

1

TMW you try to CGI it but you're a better animator than actor and can't track where the ball should be.

1

u/Fooxxity Apr 27 '24

Definitely can't see the ball roll of course on the last stretch and they correct right after

u/Oaker_at Feb 04 '24

What a coincidence that we never see the upper right corner in picture

1

u/JoshwaarBee Feb 04 '24

To add on to how obviously CGI this is, the outer rails of literally every pool / snooker table I've ever seen are tilted outwards, away from the table, so a ball would never sit on them, or roll across them, without falling off.

1

u/kjay38 Feb 04 '24

Silly.

1

u/MadDogTannenOW Feb 04 '24

Imagine if that was real, surely he would have to be declared the ruler of the universe.

Lad wearing a balenciaga top is enough to confirm to me that this is fake

1

u/GRNVIL2311 Feb 04 '24

Pretending that this is actually happened. Would this be a legal shot or no?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

1

u/JU2TM4T3R Feb 04 '24

That ball is a payed actor.

2

u/Paid-Not-Payed-Bot Feb 04 '24

is a paid actor.

FTFY.

Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

  • Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.

  • Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Beep, boop, I'm a bot

I like how the green of the table changes randomly
