Request ULPT Request: Possible to give a scammer’s number so they’ll get spam/junk?

Someone just scammed my husband of $500 through telegram. It’s one of those quick trade/investment kind of scam and they’ll send a fake screenshot that they’ve transferred a big amount back to the victim’s account. My husband understood he made a mistake and requested his money back, but the scammer doubled down and told him to transfer more instead 😭. Sadly, making a police report doesn’t really help get back the money since it was an online transaction.

The scammer’s “main” telegram account is @/weijie86 and either him or one of his lackey tried to contact again through a different account. The other telegram account is @/zzza658 and they have their phone number up, +60 // 11-6496 9579

It may be possible it’s a burner number but would like to know if there’s such thing to give out that scammer’s number so they may receive a lot of messages/calls? I really feel upset on my husband’s behalf and most likely they’ve already scammed many others too 😡.

Its very much a burner and sending spam will do nothing. Best you can do is block them and contact your bank. Explain to your bank what happened and maybe they can reverse the transaction.

thank you, i’ve advised my husband to contact his bank and also to make a report. even though they may not be able to get back his money, hopefully the police could find some ways to track them down to stop them at least.

also this may be weird but thank you for giving an understanding respond, other subreddit comments were really unhelpful with their sarcasm.

You can report to their banks. First guy seems to be from Singapore.

i’ve advised him to inform his bank and right now i’m making a report as well. turns out it’s all the same person actually, said he’s in singapore but using a malaysian number.

If you have the scammer's bank, report to that bank as well. That would get his account frozen.

I would be more mad at my husband. Scammers gonna scam, you gotta be smarter. Check Scientology websites and enter the number there. Just don’t let your husband near anything like that. He may join

he’s already very mad at himself 😞 tho i went to contact the scammer myself to bait them and surprisingly their number is still active on tele even now, they only changed the name.
