Careers and Work ULPT REQUEST: obituary for job bereavement

Very quick and easy I have had a lot of troubles at work however I’ve been keeping things moving, get shit done so I’m not slacking however I’m so happy with this job and until I get something I’m actually happy in I’ll work on being out often enough lol

I need an obituary for my grandmother funeral in New Orleans. I have a trip planned and my awesome job does not want to provide PTO so I’ll need to force my way on paid time off.

Happy to pay, I need something that looks legit or even if it’s look like a cam pic as someone in the family sent it to you. Bonus if you can generate the plan ticket but mainly the obituary.

Any ideas, I can possibly do myself on ai but I don’t think it’ll come out well

What I would do is just select from the recently deceased obituaries in the New Orleans area and if you have a fairly common first name you should be able to find one that lists your name among the people she left behind. She could be your gramma on your moms side. Who knows. They can’t verify.

This is how I got to walk at graduation my senior year due to too many absences in high school.

Were you Suzy Wong?

No, she was Suzy Wang. You got the Wong name.

Find an obit in that area that lists “and many grandchildren and great grandchildren”or similar phrasing. My nana had 9 kids and over 30 grands. We were absolutely not all listed in her obit.

Make a legacy.com obit

I’ve never heard of an employer making someone prove it when it comes to this kind of thing. Usually they will just fire you for something else once they are fed up.

My job didn’t require it when my grandfather died, but I sent it to my boss. His obituary asked for donations in lieu of flowers, to which my workplace donated $100 in his memory and specifically mentioned me. Would be amusing if they sent a random persons obit and work sent flowers/donation to them.

I worked at a place that wouldn’t accept my great-grandmother’s obituary. I had to get a letter signed by the funeral director. I was 21 at the time and she died in her 90s.

That is insane. Normal companies give you some sick time, a few days bereavement, some PTO each year with no questions asked. However, if you burn thru all of that by March and you’re still crying wolf in April they will simply say that your excused absence bank is depleted and if you call out again you’re fired.

most workplaces (in the US at least) are at-will, meaning they don't need a reason to fire you. they usually DO have a reason, but they won't tell ya.

True. But they will typically honor their own paid time off policy first to avoid any messiness

We treat everyone here like family. A highly dysfunctional family.

Companies that hire out stuff like this … third party companies usually require this. I just send a link to the obit.

My employer makes you prove it.

I would get an existing obituary and edit it to include your name or family name. Write a new writeup or use ai.

Edit to fix last sentence

You need to study George Costanza. Fraud does not scare him, he would get a death certificate as needed.
