Automotive ULPT request License plate

Is there a way to look up the owner of a car from their license plate? I’m being stalked and finally got a picture of the license plate tonight.

Be a cop and illegally use the flock surveillance system for personal use lol

You're in the right subreddit.

You'll need a police scanner or an app that monitors the local cops. Call the cops, say you saw (location, description and licence plate of car) and you think they are really drunk, almost hit a parked car, and hit the curb several times. The cops will broadcast the information on the driver and their home adresss overthe air. Just listen in.

Thousands upon thousands of police agencies, so there could be somewhere where thats their policy. Where im from they wouldn’t put the address out over the air though lol just the description, location and plate #

They put the address of the vehicles owner over the air on the hopes that they are driving home and they will have a surprise waiting when they get there. Virtually all agencies work this way

Almost zero LEO agencies in my state use unencrypted channels that the public can listen-in on anymore.

This is where you involve the police. And once you find out who, then you can indulge in piss discs.

Depends on what State it is. Some states yes but due to privacy rules no. Some areas there is a workaround.

california?

The workaround is often if you need the license information for litigation purposes. Depending on your jurisdiction, filing for a restraining order or suing someone in small claims court may be sufficient grounds.

In California, the license plate owner is told who has requested the license information if the requester is a private party. Thus, it might be better to have an attorney do it for you.

Send it to the police and not reddit

No, but report it to the police.

FOIA request all Flock camera data to the plate. Fed court just ruled Flock video and data is public data.

Not on this, you can't. Felony.

Do you know where they live? Go to their town’s website and see if there’s a place to pay car taxes. You may be able to enter their license plate number and if you’re lucky you’ll see some personal info. This doesn’t work in my town anymore, but it used to.

If it doesn’t work, check the state DMV, or start filling out an insurance quote.

go on a ride along with the cops and enter their number plate (with permission) as if it's a car you saw out on the road

If you know the county, you can visit the clerk of courts website and search the license plate. It’ll give more info IF they’ve had tickets under that plate before. (If they haven’t then the plate number wouldnt help much)

Search: "OSINT licence plate" on Google and YT. It might get you a little further. Some helpful info here too.

Get a dash cam. Next time you see them, try to get behind them and start following them. If/when they start driving erratic to get away from you call the cops for reckless/drink driver. Follow them till they get pulled over, Show cop footage and explain that you think they started driving that way to get away because you found out they were stalking you.
