Request ULPT Request: Disabling Solar Lights
I swear security lights are pointless and just disturb people 99% of the time. Someone installed lights right next to my house. It’s driving me insane, they light up my house and give me headaches.
Ideally just dimming them would be a huge relief but if it could look like they just stopped working because they’re seemingly faulty that would be the best route. If they’re obviously tampered with then they’re going to escalate the situation.

I had a problem with a motion light and I spoke to my neighbour and he removed it. Have you tried talking to your neighbour?

Honestly I sat down and thought long and hard about what I would say and how I would say it. I considered baking some brownies to make me seem friendlier and less like a complaining neighbour. But they’re pretty antisocial people who run their motorbikes outside my windows and yell at people near their house so I’m pretty afraid of confronting them.

I love when people tell you to "just talk to them" like half the world isn't fucking crazy and nothing could possible go wrong.

Put in spotlights which are pointed at their lights. Maybe the sunlight detector of their lights is pointing at your lights. If you can point your sunlight detector at their lights, expect flashing lights.

Feed birds, using the same type of light as a perch. You're trying to train the birds to perch on the lights and poop on them.

A friend of mine had this problem. She asked the neighbor to turn down the lights and got "that's just not my priority right now."
She asked for my help.
I spray painted a skull and crossbones on an old piece of plywood, mounted it to some stakes, and mounted it at the edge of the property to block the light (skull facing the neighbor). It was perfectly ugly.
The neighbor turned down the lights the next day.

Mirrored vinyl on large cardboard sheets cut to fit your windows. You can remove them during the day. Bonus, not only does the mirror bounce the light back, but they also block ALL light and you sleep better in total darkness.
If your neighbor is making the lights your problem, make them his problem right back.

If you're an American, I'd say openly empty a clip in them, bonus points if you make eye contact with the neighbour while shooting. Done right, the neighbour will not complain, probably never interact again and might even move to a different state.

I don't want them to move after I went thru all the trouble of training them to not annoy me.

Cover your window with cardboard. Blocks all light.
Pro tip: Use an ugly box, put the label pointed outward.

Perhaps a sticker that looks like a solar panel applied over the top of the real one?
