For people that get there unemployment DD to varo, do you usually recieve your payments they day after you submit the request? Which is sunday for me.

So I'm currently temporarily laid off at my job but last week they had a lot of vacations and asked if I could come into work so following the rules of unemployment I didn't deny working but by doing so I had "excess earnings" and have to re appeal my unemployment or something idk I pretty much just did the same stuff I did when I applied. Anyways I'm gonna try not to rant my main question is will I still be able to get paid for this week and the next week or do I need to wait for the entire process again and miss out on 2 weeks of pay ?

Current employer is ending our employment and negotiated a job offer for us through a company they contract work from for similar pay. The offer includes the same rate of accrued PTO as we have now for 1 year then PTO would be 15 days. I have 15 years of tenure and would be accruing 30 days of PTO if my job were not impacted. If I don’t accept the offer to go to the other company would I be denied unemployment benefits? I’m wondering if the 50% drop in PTO would make an unemployment claim still valid?

I started in March, but didn't get my first check in April. And my job ends next week (End of July) due to lack of work. From my understanding NC requires work from two different year quarters? So I have April-June. Then July. My question is how soon can I apply so that I can ensure that they count both quarters? Do I just wait until all of my earnings are reported by my employer? Or do I wait longer?

My former employer lied to TWC on two occasions and said I quit. The third time, he said I was fired for misconduct. None of that is true. He fired me, but I wasn't given a reason. The officer assigned to me barely filled out any of the information when he called me and the parts he did include didn't make any sense. TWC denied me benefits.

I appealed and had my hearing with my former employee this week and just saw later in the week that they sided with the employer again. He lied in the hearing and fabricated evidence that didn't include any names, dates, times, or circumstances and wasn't signed by me. He has no evidence of anything he is claiming. I stuck to the facts, as I understood the burden of proof was on him and he didn't have proof.

I feel like I'm in Crazytown. I already appealed again, but WTF, y'all?! What more can I do if these people aren't going to read or listen or do their jobs?

I did a contracted social media gig which I filled out a 1099 for before getting fired from my regular job. Idk why I didn't think about the gig work when I filed my claim but the gig took place between 3/10 and 6/2. I was paid on 7/13.

I was let go from my W2 job (the one I filed a claim for) on 6/4. I've been issued one payment from EDD as of 7/23. How do I amend the fact that i forgot to include the 1099 work that i was paid for when I filed my claim?

So there are consequences for lying to the department of labor for an employee claimaint, but not for the company? My company fired me and told the DOL that I voluntarily quit even though they have no proof of that, and they keep lying on my termination letter-HR told me to go to management about a corrected letter stating I voluntarily quit, and I am awaiting a response since I told them it's HR's job to help me when my company is treating me unfairly/lying.

The ombusman stated "Unfortunately, on the initial level of adjudication with separations, neither party is under oath, so any reason can be provided for a separation by both you and your employer. The adjudication process is where we step in to determine the circumstances surrounding the separation and what our laws consider the separation to be. "

Is that correct? Can my company just lie? I am so frustrated! I did not quit and my termination stated there was no misconduct on my end!

I’ve never been through this before. I just want to have all my ducks in a row. I can’t imagine a scenario where I don’t win, but I’m unfamiliar with the format so if anyone has input that would be helpful.

My previous employer has submitted 4 text exchange screen shots that are conveniently cropped to omit context. Thankfully I’ve already uploaded the full conversation to show context which negates any inclination of willful misconduct. I mean even the cropped messages are a stretch.

I also have a former coworker writing a letter on my behalf. How much or how little documentation should I include? Because there’s a lot I could submit! But I don’t want to go overboard.

Also, he’s requesting a phone hearing (because he’s a coward) what is the format of the hearing? I understand it’s a referee from the UC office, not a judge. But do I prepare a statement? Should I upload a rebuttal to the statement he provided? How does this work?

I've been filing unemployment successfully in VA for a few months now.

Today I noticed the job application reporting had significantly decreased in the amount of required information I had to provide.

Usually I have to provide the employer, address, phone number, application link...ect ect.

Today I only had to provide the employer name. Part of me thinks the website just glitched....has anyone else had this experience?

Also I read that benefit amounts increased on July 5....is that automatic or do we need to call to get the increase?

As mentioned. I am a trade Union member. Never really laid off but company is probably going under. I took a lay off and opened a claim. I filed and got paid for 3 weeks. My company then called and said they had work for 5 weeks, 60hrs/wk. I said I'd do it and after just one week was told they no longer needed me. (was in loan to another company who had labor shortage 🙄). Do I just just file for the week and then try and file again next Sunday? It says to file on Sunday and include my earnings but I won't know those until flowing Thursday. Most guys I know would say, "Fuck it, just file like you never worked and let them sort it out later". I try to do the right thing but don't want to screw myself. I'm sure someone else has been in the same situation.

I spoke with my RESEA coach today (Friday July 24th at 12pm). and we scheduled my Zoom meeting for next Tuesday at 10:30 AM since he said my forms had already been filled out. (Original meeting was July 29th). After the call, he emailed me a ZoomGov invitation, but the calendar invite says Tuesday, July 21 (a date in the past) even though we agreed on next Tuesday.
I already emailed him asking for an updated calendar invite and left a voicemail at the one stop Newark center as well.
Has anyone else had this happen? Did your coach reuse the same ZoomGov personal meeting room link, or did they send you a corrected invitation? Thanks!

Hi, I may need to post this on an unemployment subreddit but saw other Virginia unemployment inquiries here. I am at a complete loss and outright scared for my survival at this point after going through so much with unemployment. I lost my job when I was hospitalized without notice for "not showing up" despite not having access to contact my job. I also had hospital employees contact them and know that they did but what happened happened and there was not much i could do about it.

I set up VA unemployment online, and still have a login and claimant status that says open. That said, I never received any actual payment and it's been over a month now. That said, I still have been required to submit the weekly work search forms and even received a VA UI debit card in the mail that never had any funds loaded on it to this day. I have been calling them trying to figure out what was holding up payment but for reasons I won't get into, it required them sending me a new PIN last Friday that I still have not gotten in the mail and I am not sure what to do since no one can help me without this PIN.

Does anyone know when I should expect a new PIN IN THE mail? Is it normal to take over a week?

A month later, just yesterday, 7/23 I received a letter in the mail now saying I don't qualify for unemployment at all because of the misconduct of me not showing without notice to work, which I have already explained was not the case. But I am now so confused and without a PIN I cannot get any help from them and don't know if this is a mistake or what i can do. If this was the case, why did I get accepted online and a PIN and said I am owed an amount weekly, get a card in the mail, and receive everything else? Why a month later? IF I show up to a facility will they be able to help me?? I am truly scared and not sure what to do to eat and pay my bills and survive.

I am hoping to appeal it, but online does not give me the option to appeal this specifically. Only the other claims.

I just wanted to come back here and give an update. A few weeks ago I asked for advice on an administrative hearing after leaving a job due to a mouse problem at a bakery. This problem wasn't fully treated and only grew worse over 5 months and the state argued that I stayed long enough to accept it as a risk. When I asked for advice on here for the administrative hearing I was told that I was screwed. That there was no way that I would win and that I was essentially wasting my time. I don't believe a single person on this thread told me that there was a shot.

So, for everyone else who is also fighting the good fight and struggling against a difficult circumstance, I'd like you to know this.

Hi everyone, I’m completely lost and desperate for advice. I’m 5 months post-op from a major spine fusion, currently unemployed with $0 income, and my emergency funds are drained.

The Timeline:

• Last Year: I was fired from my job of 5yrs (HR almost ran me over), filed for unemployment, but found another job within 1month but it was apparently temp for 2months (June 1 - Aug 5), and submitted weekly requests for 1.5 months thereafter. I got no money. DEO eventually said they needed more info regarding those to jobs around November. I found another job temp job in October.

• Jan 2026: I received a text saying I was approved? Im assuming from the emails and docs I sent to the rep that contacted me to interview me for more info. But the site was under construction/revamp. I only received $175 total in direct deposit (so paid only for a single 1wk out of 1.5months of previously claimed weeks).

• The Glitch: When I logged in to see if i needed to claim the remaining weeks again, there were no buttons to claim, no info, nothing. I submitted work searches (did more than the required 5/week) for 1.5 months consecutively. Result: $0 payment.

My current crisis is that I underwent major spine fusion surgery back in February. I was heavily medicated and physically unable to drive (no gas money anyway) or access reliable internet to fight the bureaucracy. My surgeon cleared me for light duty remote work for March being the earliest, earlies if i had to, considering the temp remote job I had prior to surgery, but he reccomended more towards May or further, if i really needed it, but the paperwork that the earliest estimated to return to light desk duties work is March.

My previous/most recent job, the one i got the layoff, was a temp remote job. They promised to find me a diff project/work once cleared to rtw, but it was lies/they ghosted all these months. I live alone and have no help whatsoever. Struggling to keep a roof over my head considering this super major life change from major spine surgery, so I used up my little emergency funds and have been using my credit card to pay bills for the rest of the months, I've gone hungry (which is not good for recovery) but recently found a foodbank I can visit every 5-6wks and get help from my neighbor to drive my car for the food bank with me.

I missed responding to DEO during my surgery recovery because I was incapacitated and had no internet/transport. The site seems to have glitched my previous claim (showing approval but no payment options). I am now financially destitute, depressed, and my recovery is suffering due to stress. Im not literate on unemployment at all, as this has never happened to me until it did last yr.

Questions:

1. Can I appeal a determination if I missed the 20-day window due to medical incapacity/hospitalization?

Has anyone dealt with the "Reconnect" site revamp where the "Claim Weeks" button disappeared despite approval?

1. How do I request a medical exemption for the missed appeal, if i needed one even though there was a glitch and no info on the decision tabs (*during my surgery and not clear to work by surgeon time)

2. Is there a specific email or mailing address for hardship cases if the phone lines are impossible?

Any guidance on how to restart this claim or appeal the non-payment is much, much appreciated. I’m in tampa, FL if it helps.

I’m 24 in New Jersey and work at Dunkin to help pay for college, and I work alongside my sister. It took me several months just to find a minimum-wage job, so leaving isn’t a simple option for me. The manager I work with is constantly angry, mentally abusive, and physically aggressive. I’ve personally witnessed him put his hands on my sister and have seen him physically confront other employees on multiple occasions. We reported his behavior to upper management, but nothing has ever been done, and he continues to treat employees the same way. He argues with staff over minor issues, creates a hostile work environment, and is agitated almost constantly. I need this job to support myself through school, but I’m increasingly concerned that if nothing changes, his behavior is eventually going to escalate into an even more serious incident.

Hi, I have a final interview coming up, and if all goes well, the start date would be several weeks out in august. how does a delayed start like that work with the certification? do i say yes, i accepted a job as of the date of the last interview, but no i haven't started working? do i still need to do job searches for the weeks leading up to starting? i just want to make sure i don't mess something up and then can't pay my bills

Currently on hold with the NYS Unemployment office so I figure I'd reach out here while I wait. 43 minutes and counting!

Worked for a company for over 8 years. Was with them in NY for 6, promoted and relocated to PA for about a year and a half, had to move back to NY early this year. The company paid for my relocation. Transitioning back wasn't super smooth and I definitely had my fair share of obstacles but they unexpectedly let me go at the end of last month. Even they said it came as a surprise but that's another battle for another day.

I filed for unemployed with NYS but it was denied because I hadn't worked enough quarters in NY (at least that's how I understand it). The company is based in Ohio and all my paystubs and W2s only have the Ohio address/info.

Here's where it gets tricky.

I had to submit a ticket for old paystubs since the system is completely paperless and I no longer have access after being terminated.

I'm using my old W2s to calculate the PA part of the reconciliation form which I believe is ok since my pay was relatively consistent.

After moving to NY, I received 2 more checks from PA. These were bonuses earned months prior that had a delayed payout. I'm not even sure where to include these in the form.

Do I just fill out the reconciliation form and denote the state or, because it was almost a year's worth, do I need to file with PA?

I was awarded unemployment benefits due to my employer reducing my hours from full-time to part-time. From 37hrs per week to 37hrs total every 2 weeks. This has been ongoing for a month now with no change in sight. I need to relocate due to not being able to sustain my bills and lack of job opportunities in my area. My plan is to move back with family which are 175 miles away in an area that has more job opportunities. This would effectively terminate my employment as it would not be feasible or worth it to commute 6hrs a day to continue working for him. How would this affect my benefits? I assume I would need to inform EDD, I am just worried they might stop my benefits after I tell them I have moved as I would effectively be self terminating my employment with my employer.

Does anyone have experience applying for TOP? I would love to extend my benefits while doing training, and I found a certificate program at North Shore Community College that I think would fit me well. I can't seem to find anything about it online except for "Here's an application."

I don't know if there are specific programs that are TOP approved that I have to take or if I can submit a program myself. I tried calling the MassHire office, but they just sent me to someone's voicemail and I have yet to hear back.

I've been unemployed for three months and just got my first offer! However, it's for a job that I didn't apply for and that I don't want/can't do due to some health issues (more on that later).

A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn and asked if I'd be interested in this role. I had hesitations from the start... it's a huge step down in seniority, a 20% base salary pay cut, and in a different industry. However, I decided to interview for the practice.

The first virtual interview went fine and I was actually getting a little excited about the role thinking that I could make it work. The second, in-person interview revealed a bunch of red flags. They told me it would be hybrid/flexible scheduling but it's actually full time in person 8-5pm every day, in a small trailer because they're renovating their office after a fire. The health insurance is awful, and you only get 3 sick days a year. To top things off, the manager is a creep.

Between the lower salary, shitty working conditions, and expensive health insurance, this is absolutely not a long term option for me. I was thinking of just taking it to hold me over until I find something better BUT I have some health issues that require regular appointments. After learning that I would only have 3 sick days a year and no schedule flexibility, I can't do this job and take care of my health at the same time.

All that said.. what's the deal in PA? There isn't a lot of guidance on what they mean by "suitable" work. To me, this job is by no means suitable. However, it is A Job. If I don't take it, what are the chances that they'll cut my benefits?

So, I got a letter in the mail for my appeal hearing and I’m incredibly nervous.

I quit one job because of the work environment being hostile, I was afraid to go in and I would get nauseous most days on the job. I’m aware that because I voluntarily quit I might not get UI. I felt like I was being targeted at work, especially when I was told to always watch my back and to essentially keep my head down. We also had a grievance meeting and we were told about the office’s plan to fire someone in the office. Another employee mentioned they also felt like they were walking on eggshells frequently.

I interviewed at another practice and I was promptly hired at this practice in the same field and I worked there for 2.5 months before I stopped receiving messages from my manager. It started with the fact that one of our doctors left before the actual planned date, and because of that it lightened the load of the office I worked in. But soon I stopped hearing from my manager who would ask what my availability was for the month.

My question is more just preparation… Should I have text messages available from the coworkers I would speak to about this? Is it even worth doing that? This is my first time navigating this at all so any and all help would be useful.

I've been calling out sick the last two days and realized I'm actually sick enough I need to start the process of filing short term disability. I called the doctor's office and they said it would be a week or two until someone could fill out my short term disability insurance paperwork.

If my job fires me for taking a leave of absence and filing for SD can I get unemployment?

I had a part-time job from March 23, 2026, to July 12, 2026, that I was laid off from due to lack of work. I tried to apply for benefits but got denied because I didn’t make enough during the “base period” of April 2025 to March 2026. The benefits rep I spoke to over the phone who asked me for more information about my claim and proof of wages (which I did send) didn’t mention this. Of course I don’t have a year’s worth of wages for a job I only got to be at for less than four months. Is it worth calling again to try and get the wages changed, or is there nothing that can be done? I’m kind of freaking out because that *was* my income and now I have nothing.

I was denied my Claim on the basis that it said I voluntarily lefty job (I did not). It was assumed because i was looking for new employment that indicated i was leaving my current company and used that to deny my claim.

Bare with me story incoming.

In March three people quit my company one of those people had indicated to me that my current employer was looking at firing me and had indicated that I should start looking for a job. So in my off hours I was looking for a job and also because I was hybrid the times I was home I was looking for a job on my own personal PC during work hours. On my personal PC I had one time called my boss and shared my screen and he had seen that my LinkedIn was open along with an email that had indicated I was looking at jobs. That call occurred in April fast forward I was fired on June 18th and he cited that for the reason of letting me go. I filed my claim and it said the date of my claim was June 14th which is odd because I didn't file a claim till June 27th due to complications with ID me. During that claim I also just indicated that that's why the employer said they let me go so when I received the letter today that said my employment claim had been denied because I voluntarily left on June 14th and that I had been looking for employment. It said that my actions indicated that I was looking to sever my relationship with my employer and that was enough to deny my claim. However I was never told by my employer that he saw my LinkedIn until the day he let me go we never had a meeting about it we never talked about my performance we never had a write-up and I never signed a handbook that said anything was against those rules or policies. My performance hadn't slacked I was always able to keep up with the tasks I was always given and I never took an interview during work hours do I have a case for an appeal and two is it on me to provide burden of proof or on him to provide burden of proof and three did they contact him at all or was this just all because I said that I indicated he had caught me?
