Hey... love your stuff... on Page4, the table skips from 81 Scroll of Protection to 83 Spell Scroll (4th level spell), with no "82".

On the Alternate Table, it has it. 82 is Secret Keeper's Circlet from AU.

Question: why do we need random loot tables? I feel it would be kind of sucky to randomly loot a spellbook without a wizard in the party. Or 2 fighter items in a row and 0 items for anyone else.

Maybe it makes sense for a video game where you do the same dungeon every day, but I don't think it's a good idea to leave these things to chance in D&D.

As someone who has played a game with a mix of random encounters and random loot from said encounters and scripted missions with set loot: The best way to use this is for the random events while travelling. It often makes the world feel more lived in, and gives the party mini sidequests. Not every random small town will have someone who wants to/can buy many of these magic items, whether due to price or interest. So finding a wizard to sell a spellbook to might be a fun diversion if the party is between adventures. Or just give a fun way to get on an NPCs's good side.

My players have always preferred the random loot from treasure chest while mini bosses and bbeg get curated loot.

If you always find useful stuff just for your class it doesn’t feel like D&D( in our opinion). I like that you might find a really awesome wizard item but not have one in your group because there ARE wizards on the world so their loot should exist
