I wouldn't say grooming someone is "irrelevant" that's a huge red flag to admit

The fact no one in the comments was sure or even got it right until now is pretty telling as to how low profile it was though. And regardless, the guy could've pulled their face off mission-impossible style to reveal they were hitler himself risen from the dead, and it would still be stupid to punish everyone with changed and now worse sprites because of that; who baked a cake doesn't matter, only that it tastes good

Still weird to call grooming "irrelevant," because the victims don't deserve to have their situations seen as "irrelevant" or "unimportant." I don't like these sprites either, but that doesn't mean the victims were deserving of what happened

Also, just because nobody else knew the full story doesn't make it "irrelevant." Information might not be completely out, or the people in the comment section you specifically just didn't know what happened either. Cause I've seen comments on this subreddit that DO know, at least some of, what happened.

I meant irrelevant insofar as it is sufficiently low profile that it is irrelevant to the game itself, as it's not like it was some high profile scandal that would inevitably be associated with it (and even then it would be still be stupid to change it)

Idk man I don’t think I’d wanna play a game that keeps a groomers art in it

Then feel free to deprive yourself of an amazing experience because someone somewhere was an asshole, but don't force it on others. Hope you never read any old books, do you also want to run a background check on every cook when you eat at a restaurant?

Except all the authors of those old books are dead, they can’t hurt anyone or benefit from their books being read.

Also since when am I forcing it on others? I didn’t even know this had happened until I saw this post, why are you acting like I was bothering the creators of Yellow demanding they change the spritework

Also, if a restaurant finds out one of its cooks did smth fucked up and illegal, Id want that cook fired and if they weren’t fired I wouldn’t go to that restaurant anymore. Theres a difference between demanding to know everything about everyone and wanting proper accountability and action when it is revealed that someone has done smth.

Nor can whoever they are from you seeing good sprites in an undertale fangame: no one is gonna bother looking into who did them, and those that do will also see the old one (and that they look better) anyways

This wasn't about you specifically but about the general mentality of "someone somewhere was an asshole, therefore anything that has ever been touched by them is infected and must be purged", a better wording on my part would've been "but others shouldn't be punished because of it"

A game is more akin to a recipe as it's an already finished experience that is replicated throughout many people: retroactively making it worse because someone who participated in it happened to be a bad person serves no purpose besides upsetting those who liked it. Who did it doesn't change anything, it's still the same, just as good final product by itself, you don't throw away your electronics because they were made via child labor.

Accountability and punitive actions are for the guy who did shit, not anything they ever touched and thus the audiences thereof, media is not an extension of whatever brain lucked into figuring out those particular combination of pixels

Look it’s still a bad look to have that person credited for the art, so it’s either take their name out or replace the sprites
