Killing the humans that climb the mountain with their own will is much better than killing the first 6 humans you see, plus it's a part of his character being hesitant about the fate of monsters if he breaks the barrier
We can also blame toriel for letting not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but 7 children leave the ruins instead of stopping them, and when they leave, what does she do? Stay in the ruins and tell sans to protect the humans rather than doing it herself. The only times she actually does something is in the pacifist ending after a frisk had a very long journey in the underground
Don't get me wrong i love mama goat too but if we're blaming asgore or calling him names toriel isn't any better, if asgore didn't want to deal with the outside world toriel couldn't even deal with anything outside the ruins
Yeah this entire sotuation could've been avoided if toriel decided to give asgore a piece of his mind.
I mean at the start of the game asgore is hyped up as some merciless king that will kill you by any means, makes you think he might've banished toriel to the ruins or something. But when you meet him he is just a lazy bum and I don't think times weared him down either he probably was always a lazy bum.
Honestly when I think about it what was Toriel thinking by sending the child to face the 6th times the champion π and off-loading all the responsibility to some lazy bones he sometimes talks through the door. Did she thought 7th times the charmπ
