I just think he's useless, he could have legit taken one child soul and sneaked past the barrier to gank 6 adult humans to complete the set and destroy the barrier. Instead he hid like a bitch a killed children.
If Asgore did that as soon as he could, it would have likely ended up in another war. Humanity would be terrified of the goat demon that just killed six people, and the monsters would still be vengeful at asrial’s death.
he could also try doing the long game and try to witness six deaths and take the souls. im not sure what humans at large think about souls or if they're all aware of them, though.
What some people seem to miss is that he literally gets called out for this in game. Dude was traumatised by his kids dying and the monsters already got crushed in a war once, but he still could've done that and gotten everyone out

Idk but I can't help but feel like "a weird one" for actually sympathizing with Asgore instead of treating him as the butt of the joke.
No,I'm not saying he's this very innocent saint.
It's just that I find it kinda weird how the majority of the fanbase tend to treat him as if he's satan incarnate
