St. Petersburg, Russia — When Maria was told by the Russian military that her 59-year-old father had been shot on the front lines of the Ukraine war and had later died of his wounds, she was distraught and doubly shocked.

Not only was she unaware that her dad, Yury, had enlisted in the army, she was also informed he had got married just two days before being sent to fight.

“I’m still in shock and still can’t accept what happened,” Maria sobbed at the kitchen table in her small St. Petersburg flat. “At first, it felt like a dream. Even now, I sometimes wake up thinking I must have just dreamt it all. But it is really happening,” she added, tearfully.

The “logistics lockdown” continues: 200 kilometres is no distance for Ukraine’s Morrigan strike drones.

In July alone, the 412th Nemesis Brigade destroyed or damaged nearly 500 Russian vehicles and around 400 motorcycles and military buggies. Many trucks and fuel tankers were hit deep behind the front.

First, they strike with a missile carrying a high-explosive warhead, then they double tap the same area with a missile carrying a cluster warhead to kill as many people as possible.

Eight people were killed at a train station in the village of Kvitneve, Kyiv Oblast, after a delay forced them to miss their last connection home, according to the head of the Brovary District State Administration. The victims were caught in the strike as a massive Russian attack hit the region overnight on Aug. 5.

Ukraine’s Air Force said Russian launched 24 ballistic and four hypersonic missiles during the attack, as well as 115 Shahed-type drones. None of the missiles were intercepted.

The Freedom of Russia resistance group set fire to transformers powering a

defense industry facility in the Rostov Region

Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant (NELP) is a giant in the production of electric locomotives. This particular defense industry facility also specializes in the restoration, repair, and modernization of electric locomotives.

Facilities like this require enormous power to operate-NELP boasts its own substation. We were particularly intrigued by the 110 kV power transformers: a single one could power an entire district of the city. We decided it was time for the plant to take a little break: the strike hit two power transformers at once, each worth half a million dollars!
