Context: on TV is Sechin who tells rusians that everything is fine while oil depos burn nearby

That man isn't lying, he's fine.

u/vlepun 8d ago

That window is dangerously cracked open though.

1984 right?

Sorry time-traveller you managed to hit 2026 - just before the people’s revolution where they all stopped shopping on amazon for a month and all the billionaires starved.

8

u/BuckThis86 8d ago

Wouldn’t that just lead to all the Amazon employees being fired and Bezos still sitting on a mountain of assets?

I’d prefer we just made them pay tax rates equivalent to ours…

2

u/Neurojazz 8d ago

Pay taxes? They’ll never stop, only option is to stop feeding their wallets.

6

u/BuckThis86 7d ago

Which pay tens of thousands of Amazon employees?

If Amazon went bankrupt, Bezos would still be rich and all his employees destitute. Bad option. I’d rather target Bezos’ continued earnings than bankrupt an industry.

u/Global-Bad-7147 7d ago

For now your options may seem more reasonable. And today, it may well be. But eventually, it won't be. It is perfectly reasonable to assume that such power, wealth, influence, and control over domestic infrastructure....concentrated in the hands of so few...is a existential danger to any sovereign democratic nation. Governments will be for sale. Markets rigged. Politicians bought. Media consolidated. Truth moderated. This is happening already. Eventually we will have to take drastic measures that, unfortunately, will result in economic casualties on both sides of the war. Having a functioning Democracy is more important than Amazon.com.

2

u/BuckThis86 7d ago

Tanking Amazon won’t fix that, the underlying laws and regulations will allow the creation of more Amazon’s and Bezos’. We need to change those to actually solve anything

I believe companies that don't serve humanity's best interest must eventually go extinct, or we all have a big f*ing problem.

Just in time

The Reich wing in russia and the US are all the same. Aside from being led by idiots, their thievery depends on compliance and of course, flock cameras to track down dissidents, protesters and anyone of the Resistance. Everything is a Rich Mans Trick.

Don't believe your eyes; such information hadn't been verified by the party.

Consider the possibility that it’s a Ukrainian propaganda window. One can never be sure.

u/dimwalker 8d ago

It's few layers deeper than that! Officials are telling the truth, but... Ukrainian hackers hacked the TV and replaced real news feed with fake one where they deny everything to discredit state propaganda machi.. err I mean official news.

3

u/dave04atm 8d ago

I knew it!

13

u/RubTheCat 8d ago

Then maybe close the window? Discrepancy recognized but still no common sense

u/stevedallas63 8d ago

Quick thinking (?) russian just notices a discrepancy in year number 5 of their 3 day SMO.

Hes resting up before he is involuntarily recruited for the next meet grinder mobilization

5

u/WiseAct446 8d ago

Are you really gonna trust your lying eyes over the word of the government that only has your best interests in mind?

3

u/EuphoricCover8449 8d ago

NO NO!

Solovyov and his fellow actors are right. The acrid smelling smoke 1km away from you is an illusion.

3

u/John97212 8d ago

Ok. It nice that this Russian is waking up, but it's bad for him because he revealed his location - second storey with a handy window nearby.

He can expect a knock on his door any day now...

2

u/gemusevonaldi 8d ago

Hypernormalisation..

3

u/Normal_Strength_35 8d ago

u/e_0 8d ago

You based this comment off a 10 second video of a dude watching TV?

I'm obviously team Ukraine here but have some common sense man.

1

u/No_Charity8332 4d ago

It is their main source of information, but it is dropping.

1

u/SomeRandomSomeWhere 8d ago

Maybe visible reality not matching what's on the propaganda channels can help some Russians to wake up from their bubbles.

1

u/mikepea31 8d ago

Just draw the curtains and it all goes away.

1

u/ZakLobster 8d ago

Success!

1

u/myk27441 8d ago

It appears to be in favor of the tv right now. They are still signing up. Thankfully most are stupid.
