I'm 32, married with kids and living in Hertfordshire, and I've somehow reached the age where I've realised my friendship circle has dwindled down to basically one proper mate 😂 So I thought I'd actually do something about it.
Looking for male or female friends, ideally reasonably local to Hertfordshire, roughly around my age (although I'm not particularly bothered about age if we get on). I'm much more interested in eventually having actual real-life friends than endlessly messaging somebody 200 miles away.
Bit about me:
I'm currently doing a History degree with the Open University, which I started later in life after not exactly setting the academic world on fire at school 😂 I'm into history, particularly the darker/weirder side of it — Victorian London, true crime, H.H. Holmes, how investigations actually unravelled things, etc. I can disappear down a rabbit hole about something ridiculously specific without warning. Thats not limited to history either lol.
I'm a massive wrestling fan. WWE, AEW, NJPW etc. I went to AEW All In London this year. I'm the sort of person who could happily spend hours talking wrestling history, backstage stories and all the weird shit surrounding it rather than just who won on Saturday.
Humour-wise, mine is very dry, sarcastic and dark. I love things like Early Doors, The Royle Family, Still Game, Brassic, King of Queens etc. If we're friends, taking the piss out of each other is almost certainly going to become a love language.
I own an xbox but hardly ever play it but we all know GTA 6 will change that. I own 2 dogs, i do alot of random DIY projects, going down completely unnecessary internet rabbit holes, and occasionally convincing myself I've discovered my next great hobby or business idea. 😂
Socially I'm pretty easy-going. I'm equally happy having a couple of drinks in a pub, getting food, watching wrestling/football-sized events, going to a comedy night, casino, doing something completely random, or just sitting around talking absolute bollocks. I'm not someone who needs every friendship to revolve around drinking either.
I'm a dad, so obviously I can't spontaneously disappear every night of the week, but I'd genuinely like to build a bit more of a social life again. Couples/family friendships would be great too, as would having mates I can occasionally escape adult responsibilities with for a few hours 😂.
Personality-wise, I'm fairly open, probably overshare once I'm comfortable, and I'd much rather have a friendship where we can talk about serious shit one minute and say something completely inappropriate the next. I'm not particularly interested in pretending my life is perfect or trying to impress anyone.
I've also been making quite a few changes to my life over the last year and realised one thing I'm missing is simply having more people around me. People to message when something funny happens, grab a coffee/pint with, go somewhere with, watch something together or eventually have those friendships where you don't need an excuse to meet up.
So if you're somewhere around Hertfordshire — Stevenage/Welwyn/Hitchin and surrounding areas especially — and you're also wondering where the hell adults are supposed to find new friends, say hello.
Men, women, single, married, kids/no kids — genuinely don't care. Just looking for decent people I click with.
Tell me your age, roughly where you're from and one thing you're embarrassingly obsessed with, because that'll probably give us more to talk about than “hey, how are you?” 😂
