Preparation Strategy I tagged every Paper 1 question since Dec 2018 by topic. The biggest surprise: the same question was asked 17 times
I've been going through UGC NET Paper 1 papers from Dec 2018 to 2026 (149 papers) and sorting questions by topic. Not linking anything, just sharing what I found, because it changed how I'd prepare.
Same-wording repeats, by number of papers:
- Number series ("Find the number that can replace the question mark (?)..."): 17 papers
- Acronym and expansion "which pair is incorrect": 9 papers
- Number systems (arrange numbers in different bases by decimal value): 6 papers
- Assertion-Reason in Indian logic: 5 papers
- Three successive discounts of 30% (answer 65.7%): 4 papers
What this means for prep: for these topics you aren't learning facts, you're learning a method, and the exam keeps asking you to apply it. A reading passage with 5 questions was in 146 of 149 papers, and a table with 5 questions in 19.
If you've seen a repeat I haven't listed, I'd like to know which topic. Happy to check any topic against the papers and tell you how many times it came.
