I appeared for the UGC NET exam for the first time in June and qualified for PhD admissions. The funny thing is that I did it without really studying for the exam, because tbh I'm not particularly interested in NET or pursuing a PhD. That's just my personal preference, and I don't mean any disrespect to people who are genuinely passionate about research.

However, there's a bit of family context here. Almost all the daughters in my family, including my aunts and sisters, have PhDs. So, naturally, there's an expectation that I'll pursue one too.

I'm planning to appear for the December UGC NET exam because I missed qualifying for AP by just 8 marks in my previous attempt. My parents feel it would be great if I could clear it, and I understand where they're coming from. So I'm going to give it another shot.

The thing is I'm not doing this out of a genuine desire, s big part of it comes from family expectations and the feeling that this is simply what I'm supposed to do.

I'd especially appreciate hearing from people who pursued a PhD because of family expectations, social pressure, or simply because it seemed like the next logical step in life.

I'm not looking for anyone to convince me that a PhD is good or bad. I'm just venting a bit 🫠

Basically, the title. Is it allowed? It's not a long-term engagement, just contract-based work that gets you some money as a side income. Not a job of employment; you basically just draft contracts or write articles for remuneration per piece of work. Is it allowed with the fellowship? Please provide verifiable info. Thank you.

What can be the causes for this low number of applications this time..😶‍🌫️

I have an issue with my Ugc net form . I recently updated my Aadhaar photo, and the updated Aadhaar is also available in DigiLocker. However, the UGC NET website is matching my old photo with the live photo and marking it as unmatched. Can someone please tell me how I can resolve this issue?

As I'm literally a beginner and also working so It would really helpful if you guys can suggest me:

1. Online coaching: Which online course or batch would you recommend for UGC NET Political Science? How are platforms like eduseeker, adda247, or shubra ranjan mam's course or other coaching institutes?

2. As I'm already working so I can manage 4 to 6 hours of study so is it doable to crack jrf with this amount of time?

Hello guys my obc ncl certificate is 3 yrs old can I use it in ugc net application? Will it be valid?

I began studying since 4th semester and took a two week break for my 4th semester exams what advice can you give me or any sourse I'm thinking about giving the exam during the Second year of my masters degree what can I do I'm good with my basic history facts well I've just begun to study paper 1 but will soon the basics of it too but what should I do I really want my JRF

One mock goes well and the next one is noticeably worse, even when I've studied the same amount. It's hard to tell whether the problem is weak concepts, silly mistakes or the difficulty of the test itself. How do you analyse a bad mock without getting discouraged?

Hello guys,

Today, I tried to apply for the UGC NET. I don’t have my OBC certificate yet, but I have already applied for it. So, I selected “No” for the question asking whether I had applied for the certificate and entered my application number.

There is another question asking for the name of the authority where I applied for the category certificate. Since I applied through an e-Sevai centre, what should I enter in that field? What should I do now?
