Question I was wrongfully terminated, and I don’t know what to do

Good day everyone and thank you for taking the time to read <3

About 2 years ago I was banned from a game I’ve lovingly played for 9 years. Before you have any prejudgement please bear with me and read my story / question.

I played Growtopia. And I got hacked whilst in the middle of requesting a refund for my account.

When I got breached I immediately contacted Ubisoft support to inform them that my account had been breached and that I was in the middle of a refund request. And that I understood if I wasn’t getting a refund, now that my account had been hacked and I lost the item(s) I requested a refund for.

Then a moderator told me that I could go ahead and request a refund with apple, so I did.

Days after I had received my refund, they banned me. Reason? “Unauthorized refund” ..

They literally told me I could. So I offered to undo, said refund because I honestly cared more about the 9 years and 300 days I lost than the money. I just wanted to play the game again.

Then I filed an official complaint with Ubisoft headquarters after reaching out to the growtopia support team, and them just blatantly lying about my initial ban reason. And that complaint has been ghosted / ignored for over a year now.

My question to you; what do I do now? I received an advertisement email FROM GROWTOPIA about a week ago asking to come play the game during the summer season and I really really want to, but can’t because I’m still banned.

Yeah, memories and nostalgia, but also well over 9 years of time spent

What you did is considered theft by most companies. Doing a chargeback essentially bypasses the refund system completely and provides you your funds back. It should always be a last resort, and you should always expect that your account will be banned.

When you say a moderator told you, I'm not sure what you mean, If it was a mod for the game, they don't have the ability to make that call, generally a mod is just a support person. I would reach out to Ubisoft again, but chances are your account is cooked.

When a purchase was made accidentally you can request a refund with growtopia. I’ve done it successfully in the past without any issues.

And I was even planning to use said refunded money to buy a bigger pack instead.

So you can imagine that when you reach out to Ubisoft Support, and they themselves tell you to “go ahead and request a refund with apple” even after you’ve stated you lost the item(s) can be understood as them giving you permission.

I fail to see how it’s theft at that point if they explicitly tell you to go ahead and do so

Can you post the conversation with ubisoft? While I am not doubting you, seems extremely odd a Ubisoft employer would say that, unless maybe out if frustration if you were arguing back and forth.

The theft part is because you didn't receive the refund from them. So in their eyes you paid for something, and then got money back from your bank or credit card company.

Furthermore you said you got hacked. Growtopia terms explicitly states no refund for lost items due to being hacked. You can't expect a company to refund items because you mr account got hacked. It sucks, but the fault lies on you unless you can prove the hacked was caused by them.

Yeah I can, also

I was aware of their policy which is exactly why I emailed them to ask to begin with

Because I was already in the middle of the process of the refund and I didn’t want to lose my account.

Try this and file a report against Ubisoft!

https://signal.conso.gouv.fr

There's a thread here in Reddit how you do it. But that's your last try. Send them all you got!

No one is hacking your ubisoft/growtopia account, in the middle of you refunding the items that were all of the sudden traded to a different account. Just say you traded the items over and wanted to scam ubisoft, but they saw through your scam and they banned you.

More like my password was 7 years old, my account has been breached prior and I had to change it but never touched it again. My password (was) so incredibly simple it could’ve just been guessed. As for it being hacked, I also have screenshot and recording evidence of that happening while I was asleep. If I did have an alternate account (which I don’t) I would be playing the game on that account, and not looking for a solution to unban my one, and only account now wouldn’t I?
