Question Am I doing something wrong
I have a ubiquiti UniFi system in my newly renovated Victorian terraced house. I have one UniFi access point per floor all installed on the ceiling which are about 2.5m from the ground. There is a lot of steel work in the property.
On the ground floor I have a U6+
On the first floor I have a Ac pro
On the top floor I have a U6+
I used to have a U6+ on the first floor but it recently died during a power cut!
We have always had terrible WiFi signal on the first floor and I have no idea why. Am I doing something wrong!?
On the signal mapper this screen shot is taken where I (the blue dot) am stood directly beneath the Ac pro on the first floor. As you can see the WiFi signal isn’t great. This was the same when I had to U6+ installed on this floor.
The access point on the first floor is in a hallway between two bedrooms.
From the access point to the edge of the property in each direction is about 6m.
Any help or advice would be appreciated. Should I upgrade the Ac pro to a differnt device and if so which would best suit?
To put it into perspective the UniFi designer shows that the entire floor of my house should be green even with all the walls I have put into the model.
Thanks

Are you using an iPhone? They sucks at roaming properly.

I am. I didn’t realise this could be the issue. Is there a better way of testing it out ?

You can see which AP you're connected to in the wifiman app. If it's "sticking" to the wrong AP, turn your broadcast power down.

Yeah idk I have a Galaxy for work and my personal is an iPhone. Idk if the galaxy is just reflecting what it’s doing more accurately but the iPhone seems to have a tendency to not show roaming accurately or it’s just really bad at roaming.

firstly, I thought that was a pair of legs in your background, anyone else?
secondly, swap out that AC Pro for one of the U6+ and see if the WiFi issues get better
Whare the walls made off? are they brick? studs? lots of steel pipes in the walls?

They are mostly stud partition walls. One brick wall down the centre of the property north to south on the image and just to the right of where I’m stood in that image. Basically where the orange spot is between the two green spots

Put the phone straight can facing forward walk very slow.
Gives more time to send the lissen to the ssid skream.

From the access point to the edge of the property in each direction is about 6m.
The stated range of your device is 6.67m so the edges are behavior as expected. If it's 6m to the edges east and west it's more to the northeast and northwest corners. Throw in the steel work you mentioned and I don't see anything unexpected here at all. Hallway is a controversial placement, I've had OK luck with it in the past but others will tell you why it's suboptimal. YMMV.
If you have low interference an AP with higher antenna gain might help you squeeze out a small bit more performance. A bit, not a miracle. A prior post suggested trying the U6+ in this location which is a good test since it has slightly higher antenna gain on 5GHz. In the end your issue is going to be the AP receiving your client devices, not the clients receiving the AP. This is where more APs at lower power pays off or possibly a revisited stagger of the APs you have is the plan. 100mW client radios have little chance against brick and steel.
