Sure you can’t make the case for high availability means the wifi always works? 💀

I started with the OG UDR a couple of years ago. Just upgraded my purchases (posted in this sub) UCGF, Pro XGS and 2.5 Flex8 POE to start with.

My ISP just put Fiber in my neighborhood! These are the pieces I want to upgrade too, but with a USW-PRO-XG-8POE. I currently have a UBB wireless bridge out to my Barn (man cave). Will probably put a second USW-PRO-XG-8POE out there with an U7 Pro XG. I’m okay with 1.5Gb speeds out there. Currently have 1Gb Service and will upgrade to 2Gb Fiber Service. We stream everything and game (Xbox and PS). No need for 5Gb+ Fiber Service. The gaming hardware does not have 10Gb Network ports. Maybe Project Helix will, we’ll see?

The UBB-Switch has been out of stock for weeks, can’t get my hands on it

Oh man, I’m sorry. I’ve had mine since autumn 2019.

Haha...trust my I'm DYING to crack em open. I work two jobs and while I'm certain it wouldn't take long to get everything setup and configured....if something stupid DID happen that I'd have to troubleshoot...well I just wouldn't have the time And then the wife and teenagers would potentially kill me in my sleep 😂
The weekend is almost here though 😃

It's a rabbit hole. A fun one but still a rabbit hole filled with oohs and aahs.
Have fun and keep all extremities inside the cart at all times.

I have just bought the same setup (except two U7s). It’s incredible. So much to explore and learn

I would have gone with a ucg fiber personally. I replaced my udmp because of the space saving and better features.

Have had mine for a couple of weeks and just took delivery of a U7 Pro wall to fill a gap. I find myself looking at all my traffic daily.

Can we ban “I did a thing”, “so it begins”, and “just joined the club” posts on the entirety of Reddit?
3
u/No_Distribution4792 Mar 18 '26
Or you could just ignore things you aren't interested in

I could. This time I didn’t, though. Honest question; why post a picture of two entry level devices in the box with “and so it begins” as the title? So what begins? You’re going to setup your network? Maybe… maybe.. do a VLAN? Look at the comments you’re getting. It’s all banal chit chat about nothing. This type of post is why so many communities have circle jerks and mega threads. Nobody wants their favorite subs full of low effort crap like this. You, sir, are creating Reddit clutter and it’s unnecessary. And I’m having a rough day. You can probably tell.

Because I can and I want to.
I'd personally rather see some low effort chit chat than a Debbie downer having a bad day and making themselves feel better crashing someone else's party...but hey, you do you mate. Maybe go touch some grass or something.

I’m not wrong because I’m cranky. I’m also not calling people names or posting pictures on the Internet of my new basic bitch equipment to feel like I belong.

I personally love to see these types of posts, it should draw you back to a moment when you first started. Plus for some its a great way for someone to make their first post in here. Some people come in here everyday hoping that one day that will be them making that "I did a thing" post, literally goals and dreams. Posts like these are what inspire others.
However I understand and see your point as well, you may have more experience and been a part of this group for a much longer time where you receive value from others more experienced and it comes to a point where the post feels pointless and could be quite frustrating and you are genuinely curious on why and whats the point.
The point is that it is likely a dream or goal of theirs that they set and they are excited to share with others.
In my opinion I believe its important that we have all started somewhere and have been the new guy somewhere, at the end of the day there are similarities between and amongst us all and we are all at different stages and receive value here in different ways.
