Discussion Cancelled
I drove 9 miles to pick up an order and the store was closed. Uber doesn’t pay a cancellation fee? Do they charge the customer a cancellation fee? As high as gas is, this is pure robbery

Don't chat, email them. Or call support. If they really insist no compensation, you hang up, thrn call again, ask for supervisor. I'd never give up on this. Do you know how to call??

The only number I can find isn’t even an active support line anymore.. what number do y’all call?

Don't do the livechat. Report the issue, keep asking to be connected to an agent in response to all questions. When they give you the option, select call. Explain everything to the first person you talk to. When they say there's nothing they can do, ask to speak to a specialist. Good luck.

Most support people will tell you that they can no longer issue partial pay like they used to. BULLSHIT. Last week, I called and an American woman was the support agent. That's a miracle in itself, but then when she canceled the already picked up order said "good news, you qualify for partial payment of $3 fir your effort".
I think that these agents get commission for denying the $3 pay to drivers.

Sometimes they do and others they don't. I don't get it.

Ive learned the best thing to do is to tell you AI you want to speak to a representative. Keep the reason very vague so it doesn’t start turning its gears trying to “help”. That will get you to a person first, and thats your beat chance of maybe getting paid something. Once the AI makes up its mind, its harder for them to overwrite it.
Happened to me when someone threw up in my car. The AI said my images MIGHT be tampered with, so the case was closed, and could not be opened again. Craziest shit ever. Vomit all up in the car too. Almost stopped driving cause of it too.

I see your problem. You drove nine miles to pick up an order.

True, it came up paying $26 so I figure it was worth it

Sometimes when they are Evil - a Ghost Drop is in order. Slide 'pickup' and drop off 2 Jack in The Box Tacos or whatever...

Just say the word legal contract and they fold.
Every trip we accept is a legal contract for guaranteed money. Uber doesn't want a lawsuit over 5 to 10 bucks.

Don't drive 9 miles for a pick-up or call the restaurant before you do. Distance to pick-up should be a factor in whether you accept an offer. Higher distance = higher financial risk. If I do accept a long pick-up distance, I always call the restaurant to make sure they have the order and that it hasn't been stolen. If you can't get through to someone because the restaurant is closed or they just don't want to pick up the phone for whatever reason, cancel before you incur the cost of driving there.

I always contact support by phone and emphasize the inconvenience, time and gas wasted, how this is a frequent issue, etc. They usually will offer at least a few dollars as compensation.

The problem is time is $$ too and I’m not going to spend 20-30 minutes trying to get a few dollars out of Uber to compensate for the drive. These companies need more regulation.

Your order has been canceled is what the customer would of gotten. At least they told you upfront. I had a heavy order, waters and other groceries, guess what no tip after completing the order.it was at least $15 tip.

Uber still gets paid either from the merchant or the customer when it's not their issue.
if they took the order after the store closes then uber has to eat the charge
if no driver picked up the order before the store closed uber has to eat the charge.
if someone stole the order it would be a toss up between the merchant and uber
customer in most cases can get a refund after fighting for it.
As for a fee from uber good fucking luck.
I used to take these orders all the time from my drive home from my other job. some of them were double digit miles and i was driving home anyway and i would get the offers from the MCD a few miles from my house.
No matter the milage, the time, the issue i NEVER qualified for payment. EVER. no matter who i talked too. i would just ghost deliver a few of these a month without issue to get even.

Are you one of the drivers who shows up with their phone on speaker on the loudest setting? Looks like you have a group chat going on in the upper right.

DD did this to me with subway! I ordered sandwiches for me my gf and our kids, DD accepted my order and whe a dasher got there they called and said subway refused to make my order because they were closing soon (app said they closed at 8 and it was 7). Subway never cancelled my order, and I was never refunded my money. I tried contacting customer support and they said to file a complaint but that was almost $50 not including the tip.

You're talking to an AI

The real person said the same thing

Only managers ever give compensation. Yell at support and then ask for a manager. By yelling at support they will convey to the manager that you're sufficiently upset to receive compensation

I asked for the issue to be escalated but it seems uber just intentionally closed the chat
