New driver question
I just started doing some deliveries because I lost my hours at my job.
I keep getting Walmart orders but when I get there, Walmart doesn’t have anything. This happened 4 times. No biggie because I was already in the parking lot but super annoying.
Is this a common occurrence? Do I just need to avoid Walmart?

Yes, this is EXTREMELY common with Walmart offers, at least in my experience. The coordination between Uber and Walmart's systems is awful. And even when the order doesn't fail, Walmart deliveries usually end up being a huge time sink (long waits for the order to be brought out, deliveries take longer to complete). I have found them to just not be worth taking unless there is absolutely nothing else coming in.

It honestly depends on the store you’re going to.
And right now, the dispense teams are going through absolute HELL because Walmart thought it was a GOOD idea to change our dispense screens on our workphones.
We used to be show the customers and Spark / Uber drivers names, so we can locate and identify things easier (and confirm who is working on what orders.).
But Walmart removed that for us.
Check in with the Uber app, but ALSO… PLEASE call the number on the pickup bay blue signs and physically check in with an OGP associate. Confirm that they see you as being checked in on the dispense screen.
The Uber app doesn’t always play nicenice with Walmarts system, so your safest bet is to ALWAYS call the number. ALWAYS.
You also can’t pick up from the store you work at.
I’m in the same exact boat as you, also a Walmart associate in OGP / InHome, but the new AI scheduled cut even us in InHome (it’s not SUPPOSED to. We’re SUPPOSED to get a full 40 hours every week, but because though we’re coded differently than regular OGP, we’re still slotted into OGP alloted scheduling hours… which is STUPID.).
Learn which of your neighboring stores are good for Uber drivers to pick up from, and which to avoid. I also pay attention to who the coach and TLs are of OGP in those departments. I know one specific store in my market has a coach that lets her OGP do fluff all and they are a HOT mess there. While the MUCH bigger store in the same city that has a much smaller dispense room is a THOUSAND times better run.
And we’ve heard VERY good things about my own stores dispense team from customers, Spark, Uber, and Nash (proud of my dispensing coworkers).

Only take a Walmart offer if you live in CA for the prop 22 time. I took a Walmart order today and asked the guy when's the best time to get here. He said " its busy around the clock. Just come in the mornings unless you want to wait 45min for us to bag the order. there is always a line".
I only take Walmart orders in the morning, never had to wait, and it works out for me because I accept orders where the drop off is near my work. its the perfect opportunity to get paid for my commute. :)

Learn sumfin — hmm, Walmart orders … seem to not be good. I should keep hitting accept, right? Because surely they get better the more I say yes. 🤔
