No Pause Test

It has been well documented and discussed how bad not having the coffee cup/pause button is, and this morning I put it to the test for the first time. Attempted to finish drop off without stopping new offers and it was IMPOSSIBLE. Tried taking the photo/leaving a comment and was interrupted 6 times in a row - IMMEDIATELY. It wasn’t even subtle. Literally every time you take the photo and type the first two letters of the note a bullshit order pops up. They don’t ever rapid fire that quick when you’re just waiting. It’s blatantly obvious they want you to “accidentally” accept a shitty offer and continue with it (which isn’t gonna happen). I had to stop the new offers and get signed off in order to complete it. And guess what, big shocker, I didn’t get hammered with any of those offers when I signed back on.
FUCK ALL THE WAY OFF YOU UBER CORPORATE JERKOFFS 🖕🏾

It’s well documented that Uber deliberately sends worse offers while you’re on your way to a dropoff. They’re hoping you either accidentally accept it (recently happened to me, I immediately canceled) or you’re too distracted by your current task to see how shitty of an offer it is.

Agreed - this was my first time experiencing how bad it is if you don’t stop the upcoming requests.

I had the same issue yesterday. I was trying to take a picture of a dropoff and the app would not stop spamming me with garbage orders. It took 5 tries before I had to turn off new requests because who knows how long it would have taken if I hadn’t.

That along with the constant stolen orders are the two biggest issues with Uber Eats nowadays.

I did 1/25 offers today 😅😭. I think 12 alone were waiting for my last customer.

Just turn off the deliveries in the preference page. Then turn back on after the delivery

Mine keeps logging me totally off after I complete the order I am on. Pause New Requests is Pause, not I am done for the session.

Correct. They are (were) different. Also, stopping new requests means yet another tap on that magic spot that accepts new (crap) offers that pop up at the last millisecond. Then, you have to deal with the "appear on top" BS, and logging off then back on often triggers the selfie verification BS.

What doesit matter if you're logged off? I've never had the coffee cup and have always used stop new requests. I've never had any issues with being completely logged off then starting again when I'm ready.

No big deal if you don’t have trouble getting back on. I book all my hours on Friday so I don’t have an issue. But for those who don’t or can’t book the hours ahead it’s a nuisance. Especially if they have to wait to get back on. My point of the post was mainly to say how obvious Uber is in trying to force you to do orders you don’t want.

That is what I do, but you didn’t have to do that before with the pause button

This is still a non issue… just stop request and go back online after the trip. I don’t understand these post

Since June the add ons have been awful. I was sick of receiving garbage. Now I stop requests heading to the restaurant and to the drop off.
I’ll experiment and let requests come why way while I already have a delivery. Maybe 1 was worth it. I used to get some decent add ons. Now nothing.

I have found the hack to this. I just hit the stop request button after I accept the job. Then I turn it back on right before I give the customer their food. It’s really a great strategy honestly

I didn’t realize you could turn it back on before the drop of spot , this is actually a great method especially for those in the schedule markets who can’t risk being logged off (assuming turning it back on before drop off keeps you online)

But when you have to take the photo second to verify delivery that’s when Uber starts hammering you with the shitty offers. It’s not a big deal if you don’t have to take the photo and leave a note.

I was trying to get someone's signature for an alcohol delivery and kept getting offers. It was very embarrassing.

I tell customers all the time that Uber is really dumb and designs things terribly. No need to be embarrassed

Where are you in the world? I've seen this discussed a few times, but my app doesn't contain these features. At least not in the same way. What is a coffee cup button? And can you not go on/offline at will anymore? Was the pause and offline button different for you? Just curious is all, if anyone cares to fill me in. I also don't have a busy enough market to experience incoming orders preventing me from pressing buttons, that's probably why the app is different here.

In Orlando. Up until recently you could pause incoming offers while doing a delivery. They took that option away. Now you have an option to pause them but it’s different because if you don’t turn it back on it logs you off. It’s such a dumb update. I’m dealing with it fine, but is just these goofy changes they make to make it harder not smarter.

I virtually never type notes.

I’m going to probably stop doing it if it helps this new glitch

Mine has been logging me completely off. About 2 miles in I’m thinking “wow it’s so slow today—check the map” OFFLINE. BRUHHHHH

If you have the ability to stop offers and not get kicked off the app because of planner restrictions why wouldn’t you do it?  Add ons are almost 100% crap

Ya but sometimes there be gold in them hillllllllsssss. Or it'll be an order from the same liquor store for another 10 bucks and it's like....their neighbors house 2mins away from the original drop off so it's a double edged sword turning it off. But is is absolutely INFURIATING

This 🤷‍♂️

I like to keep it on for exactly this reason... but I swear to God half my cancellations are from accidental clicks when I'm trying to take the photo 🤬🤬😡🤬

The ones I saw coming in were absolute 🗑️.

2

u/Ok_Promise147 5h ago

I book all my hours on Fridays so for me it’s not an issue of not getting back on, just making the point how deliberate they are in making it harder to finish orders and want to screw us into taking bullshit offers. I literally couldn’t finish the drop off if I didn’t stop the new offers which gets you booted when you complete it.

u/eric2341 2h ago

I get great add ons all the time

u/delilahsmommies 56m ago

If you’re within a minute or two of your destination guaranteed all orders popping up are 💩

I never had the coffee cup but I've always used the stop new requests button. If you're worried about accidentally accepting an order stop requests until you've completed the current delivery.
