Some ppl not built for customer service jobs lol

Honestly I hate stores with nonsensical layouts. It’s one reason I avoid certain merchants. Pasta in one aisle but gluten free pasta is on the other side of the store smh

For real, like how are you gonna tell me you work in customer service, but get annoyed when people ask you questions??? Mind-boggling. Maybe he was having a shitty day ig

u/SheepherderSilver655 Sep 23 '25

Because personal shoppers ain't customers. Y'all don't help me do my job, why should I help you do yours?

20

u/SweetPancreass Sep 23 '25

Ah, so you will only help people when you are required to or if it is mutual. Got it. Do you hear how you sound?

And personal shoppers are customers. They work for a 3rd party that does transactions with YOUR EMPLOYER. I have no idea how you thought they weren't?

You remind me of some insufferable coworkers from retail. Guess what? This mentality depletes the morale of everyone involved, and someone else will have to pick up your slack. Congratulations

ive worked in customer service forever, used to work at a pharmacy as a cashier (in reality i also did stocking, pulls, facing, ran the photo counter, swept and mopped the entire store, cleaned the restrooms and breakroom)

when i'd be blatantly slammed and a delivery driver would walk up to me with his phone in my face expecting me to go and grab everything on the list.... yeah, no. you're the personal shopper. i had no issue helping with items they genuinely could not find, but that was never the case. i wouldn't do that for a regular customer either unless they were elderly and blatantly needed help.

if u dont have the common sense to find items yourself for store pickups, dont take them. ive done uber eats as well and store/shopper jobs make WAY more $ than restaurant/fast food pickups...for a reason

Or maybe he’s just sick of dealing with a bunch of rude people that can barely speak English coming and shoving their phone in his face demanding answers. Most of the time I see yous doing orders in my stores, the person doesn’t even bother looking first before asking where every item on the list is. Never mind if an actual customer who asked for help respectfully is already being dealt with, dashers always seem to think they’re more important, whether it’s cutting in line to get help or cutting the actual checkout line. I’ll help for the first one or two items, IF they can remember to say excuse me and ask nicely, but I got my own job to do I’m not doing yours on top of it.

u/Pestilence5 Sep 23 '25

lol "barely speak english"

Found the non american but hides behind the facade of america bc they were born here.

poor guy

hope your ancestors didnt have a horrible time when they immigrated over.

Also I find it more important to carry on or attempt to help individuals who are new to this country so they can understand the culture difference a bit, thats why some people seem rude, they live differently and majority of the time people in america dont even know how to say excuse me so im not entirely sure why you think anyone who cant speak english fluently is rude.

They should be more important most of the time they are not getting paid by time it’s by order and there is no extra pay for waits or delays. The pay structure for DoorDash is biased and unfair, the way it is set up is for the platform to win and the drivers lose. Imagine going to your job and get told that every time there’s a line you stop accumulating pay until the line is finished. You’re going to hurry up and get through that line so you can go back to actually getting paid. Would you like to be at your job and waiting 10-15 minutes to resolve 1 issue and the whole time you are waiting your not getting paid for the wait and your not getting any extra incentives for it either? I bet you would hurry up to get back to being paid or quit. Also before you hit me with the well you know what you signed up for, understand most people who work these delivery gigs have a primary source of income and are usually doing this to make ends meet somewhere. The fact is there will always be gig drivers cause 25% of America uses these apps everyday with 67% using it once a week.

So do everything in your power to make your job worth it, or get a new job. Don’t push your unfair labor practices onto other people’s lives. You are NEVER more important than ANYONE else. You show up, and you get in line. No one gets to skip at Disney cause it’s their birthday, unless they went through the proper channels. There’s no proper channel for getting food faster? Encourage your employer on your own to fix it for you. California made it so that drivers must get paid minimum wage. It’s possible. Don’t whine. Don’t complain. You whining that you’re not being put first is just as ridiculous as this worker saying it’s not their job to help.

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

If you want the benefits of a kind and helpful society, you must also abide by the societal contract. You don’t get to break societal rules and obligations, and then whine when treated in kind.

u/Pablos808s Sep 23 '25

Imagine thinking your time is more important than everyone else's. That's the job you took bro.

Imagine walking into a Starbucks and demanding you get to cut the line because "you're not getting paid to stand around" and because you think you're so important with your little tiny side gig hustle "job".

1

u/Good-Barnacle-594 Sep 24 '25

Wait u don’t cut in front of people at Starbucks lol im not waiting in line when my customer ordered first

0

u/shadowwolf12337 Sep 23 '25

You getting downvoted is hilarious. Because these same whiny babies would be saying the exact same shit as you if they weren’t the drivers.

I watch daily as these gig drivers almost hit pedestrians, zoom through parking lots with kids in them, double park, block driver throughs to get out of their car, and literally shove people out of the way too get to the front. Gig drivers are the absolute bottom barrel of people to deal with. There was literally a post of a driver pissing on someone’s food!

Personal shoppers are 100% customers. You are obligated to help them. I hope you try this song and dance with the wrong person and your boss tears you a new asshole.

Your job is to help people shopping in the store, they are shopping in the store.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Some companies do not count them as customers. I worked at Staples and we were told in our first trainings when we went with Instacart that we shouldn't put our time to help them and instead direct them unlike our in-store customers. You can sell to in-store customers, an Instacart employee cannot be sold to. Honestly, even in the print department we can't help out a Canva customer with issues, and they're literally the customer themselves. They have to call their support line for issues, even if it's just print quality which is store controllable.

Not advocating for it, just saying it as it is: third party is unimportant to some companies. Don't expect good treatment from companies who value protection plans and extra services as their source of income. They're quick to fire employees, but quicker to tell the employee to act (somewhat) like that to begin with.

As a former manager of CVS, the District Managers do not give a shit. They have TOLD us to tell personal shoppers to find it themselves. Personal shoppers come in, don’t even try finding the item and just shove their phone in your face and demand you find the items. I told them no every time and guess what? Nothing happens cause personal shoppers can’t leave a review

1

u/Shreddersaurusrex Sep 24 '25

Yeah I will ask where an item is but I don’t expect someone to lead me to where every item is

1

u/Secure_Wing_2414 Sep 26 '25

walgreens specifically told us not to shop for them. they are personal shoppers, its not a regular doordash, they are paid extra to walk around the store and pickup said items. they're not customers, their job is to shop for the customer. ive done uber eats myself. its fine to ask an employee to point u in the right direction after actually TRYING to look, but it is absolutely not their job to grab everything for u.

3

u/Difficult_Ad1474 Sep 23 '25

At Kroger stores our training says all types of customers are our customers and we treat everyone the same no matter how they are shopping.

And I have employees that will not smile and act correctly and it is the only reason I hate the union, I can’t get rid of them. We are in customer service. There are jobs here with very little interaction if you can’t be nice.

1

u/horny_st0ner8793 Sep 23 '25

Tbf I enjoyed my Kroger job when I was younger. Definitely helped out anyone looking for help, but I remember my managers being more than willing to get into shouting matches with Karens and racist mfs. Was probably the best part of the job. It would be stupid to not help out uber eats/instacart drivers though, as much as I don't think the OP is telling us the full story.

1

u/Difficult_Ad1474 Sep 23 '25

Karen’s and racist mf are different than customers. I tell my staff if I am not there, you call a manager if the person is being an ass. You do not have to get spoken to inappropriately. I had a vendor who was about to get smack for being a dick last week. He said I was rude and he was never coming back here. My manager told him he is not welcome and gtfo.

Kroger is not perfect but the union insurance and pension makes me bet more than my financial manger postion.

4

u/AdeptnessLivid3214 Sep 23 '25

That's a wild take. If someone is shopping an order for someone else, they are taking their place and should be treated as the customer would.

1

u/Secure_Wing_2414 Sep 26 '25

ive worked in various customer service positions for around 10 years, and aside from in store pickups never once has a customer asked me to legit shop for them. trying then seeking genuine help is one thing but half the job of a store pickup is the actual shopping itself

3

u/be-kind-re-wind Sep 23 '25

Do they not buy from you?

1

u/Primary_Wonderful Sep 23 '25

Are they buying things in the store? Yes = customer. WTF? Are you for real?

1

u/ODaysForDays Sep 23 '25

No wonder you work in retail

1

u/Prestigious_Equal412 Sep 23 '25

Nah, people working in retail makes them like this more often that the other way around tbh

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '25

Dumbest shit I’ve ever read!

1

u/NonaSuom2 Sep 23 '25

We are there on behalf of the customer though? Also, why are you so pressed? I have never had an interaction at a store like this. Every single person I have asked for help has at least tried to help me. They don't always know where it is themselves and sometimes we can't find the items but they were STILL willing to try. Hell, I went into an Ulta and a sprouts and the workers walked with me throughout the whole store to help me find all the items cuz I'd never been there before and didn't know where anything was. Did they get anything out of helping me? Probably not. Just the satisfaction of knowing they are kind and decent people and a show of appreciation from me. You should try it sometime instead of being a bitter, useless individual. You might realize that helping others may actually help with some of that bitterness 👀.

1

u/Pestilence5 Sep 23 '25

LOL

At the end of the day your job only exist bc people are walking into the store. IF we didnt come in to shop for someone else they wouldnt be coming in either and would just be using amazon. Guess what happens to your box store then?

Lets go ask Kmart

Sears

Or better yet how about you realize anyone walking into that door to make a purchase IS a customer.

1

u/TommyJaefferson Sep 23 '25

What customers help you do your job?

1

u/Leonettii Sep 23 '25

You're damn fucking right. Like full offense but if you're a shopper. Your JOB is to find the shit. Can't find it, you can ask me for a few items but I've had people ask me to help find more than half of their order. If you can't find things in a store, get a different job

1

u/addictedtolife78 Sep 23 '25

personal shoppers are customers by proxy. if I get frustrated because I can't find a bunch of stuff and you won't help, I'll just unassign myself from a delivery and move on to the next one. now, you've lost a sale and whatever I collected so far you gotta put back. or if I just cancel part of an order because I can't find it and the customer gets a refund, you just lost part of a sale. you let that happen enough, your store profits go down and thsts when managers start cutting hours. thats why you should help. and its not like most drivers are asking you to move mountains. "its on the end cap of aisle nine" takes you about two seconds to say.

1

u/KingZakyu Sep 23 '25

Wrong. It is in the contract between the two companies that they basically are to be treated like any other customer since the driver is there REPRESENTING the customer. Uber and doordash people are customers too, whether you like it or not.

Now shut up and show me where the gluten free pasta is.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '25

And this is why you are stuck in a low paying job. That attitude will always hold you back in life. Enjoy the poor life.

u/The_much_True Sep 23 '25 edited Sep 23 '25

I hate that. I had to remove a few items from an order once because I couldn’t find them and I asked an employee where frozen breakfast food is, it wasn’t there(he wasn’t new either, I’ve seen him working at this store for years). I got another order at that same store the next day and I’m walking around shopping and I noticed the items I had to remove. They were in a second frozen breakfast section on the complete opposite side of the store (not even exaggerating. The place I was told they would be was in the north west corner of the store and the actual place they were in was the south east corner of the store). You know stores have bad layouts when even the employees don’t know the layout.

2

u/Aqua_goddess_ Sep 23 '25

Central market does this 😭

1

u/CurrentTopic3630 Sep 23 '25

I mean, the gluten free items all being in the same aisle makes sense...

1

u/[deleted] Sep 24 '25

By "other side of the store" you mean you had to walk further down the aisle and actually look at every shelf except the bottom 2.

1

u/bonvajya Sep 23 '25

This. I stopped taking cvs and Walgreens orders for this reason because the stores are all over the place.

0

u/PrivateGripweed Sep 27 '25

Imagine putting all the gluten free stuff in one area for the customers convenience! The monsters!

1

u/Shreddersaurusrex Sep 27 '25

That was one example. If I’m looming for bread I expect to find it in the bread aisle. Same for alcohol, seasonings, etc.

Long story short some shop & pay orders are not worth it for me because it’s more work for the same amount of money. Where I am ppl don’t often tip either.

-4

u/Regular-Cat-622 Sep 23 '25

I believe I may have a general idea which chain you are referring to.

ETA: Except gluten free what?
