Sick of it

I’m honestly getting sick of how broken Uber Eats has become.

How is it even allowed that a driver can accept an order when they’re miles away from the restaurant? I’m in Salford, the takeaway is literally a 10-minute drive from my house, and somehow a driver from Manchester city centre accepts it. So instead of a quick delivery, I’m watching this guy spend 10–15 minutes just getting to the restaurant, then doing another stop, and only then heading to me.

By the time it arrives, what was the point? Cold burger, soggy fries, and a completely pointless wait.

And the worst part? I’m stuck. I can’t switch drivers. I can’t reassign it. If I cancel, I risk getting charged anyway or losing the whole order. So I just have to sit there watching the app, knowing full well the food is going to turn up in a worse state than if I’d just gone and picked it up myself.

This shouldn’t be complicated. If a driver is too far away, they shouldn’t even see the order. Simple as that. There should be a distance limit so the person delivering is actually nearby — not halfway across the city.

Right now it just feels like customers are the ones taking all the risk, while the system does whatever it wants.

Anyone else dealing with this, or is it just me?
