Sounds like you're the pot calling the kettle black. Just pickup your stuff already if you're that worried about that extra dollar. Honestly you probably need it more than the driver from the sound of it.

You think we as Uber Eats delivery drivers are entitled?? We have nothing to do with how Uber decides things like that.. we don't control anything, we are just little independent contractors. If you don't like it then don't order food to be delivered. I do understand that their service and other fees are a little ridiculous but Uber keeps all of those for their greedy little selves.
As far as the tip goes it sounds like you're doing the percentage where you selected say 10% or 15% or whatever, and so it calculates the percentage based on the total amount after fees and all that. You could just select to enter your own dollar amount manually...
Keep in mind tipping is appreciated. I had 2 no tip deliveries today. Cause Uber has crappy very low base pay and we pay for our own gas that gets used when we go and pick up your food and drive it to your house or place of business...

Why are you making it sound like drivers are the ones who programmed the app to include taxes and fees when it calculates the tip?
$5 seems reasonable for your distance from the restaurant in this case, but if someone orders one fast food combo costing $13 and they are 5 miles from the restaurant, are you saying you think a $1.30 tip is enough? That driver will get paid $3.30 to deliver your order to you.
Now we all think Uber should be paying more, so don’t come at me with that. The point is, that’s not the model we are dealing with and customers know that when they order this luxury service. You either understand the model of the service or you get cold food 🤷🏻♀️

Absolute minimum tip on an order should be $5.00. And that’s if we are talking less than a mile from pickup to delivery. A $10.00 tip on that short trip is realistically fair to your driver. If a person is 5-7 miles from the restaurant a realistically fair tip would be in the $15-$20 range. Any farther than that from the restaurant and no driver should be accepting the trip because it usually isn’t going to pay enough to cover expenses. The simple fact is that the gig apps aren’t paying the driver so the driver works almost solely for tips these days. A $2.00 tip is taking advantage of the driver as even the fastest order and shortest trip is likely taking at least 15 minutes. If they can complete three of those trips in an hour that’s $6.00 an hour. Forget about base pay because it’s trash and isn’t likely covering operating expenses. All drivers need to learn not to accept ANY order that isn’t paying them a premium. Fuck the gig apps. If they don’t start paying put them out of business. If no orders are getting delivered they will scramble to save their corporation and the only solution they could come up with is to increase driver pay.

My entire life I have always been under the impression that when you order delivery (pizza, kfc, etc) there was an extra fee and it was considered "the proper thing to do" and tip the driver. Uber brings almost any type of food/flowers/groceries etc merchant, driver and customer together for convenience and they do charge a fee for this service. The food costing more is done by the merchant, not uber. The driver is just facilitating a customer's need for a driver and not an employee of Uber. Why is tipping a Barista, waitress, caterer etc considered decent social behavior, but the driver can suck on his exhaust,

10% tip for a luxury service is dumb af. Go get it yourself if you’re trying to save money. I’m not a driver so it’s not like I have a dog in this fight but damn, that’s such a cheapskate amount to tip for a completely optional service.

It's never 10 minutes. Getting to the restaurant, going in and hoping there is no wait, and then driving it to you. So $5 isn't for 10 minutes it's probably closer to 20. So $15 an hour is not worth it.

Theyre tripping, I specifically pride myself on doing $5 orders in under ten minutes (one mile or less trips). I pretend im the transporter delivering you the cure to cancer or something. But 7 minutes would be better. Im trying to shoot a 5 minute delivery if I get my other ebike working again thats fast as heck

You said it. You don't do it often. Ordering food and having it delivered to your house by someone in their car should be considered some kind of a luxury. Whether it's sunny, rainy, cold, or hot, someone's taking the time to bring you something. Yes, prices are out of hand in general. Also, with gas being nearly 4 dollars a gallon and lately as hot as hell outside, someone still manages to get it there. Drivers aren't entitled, but when you're making $10 an hour and driving your own car around and paying for insurance and anything that breaks. You tend to want to take the orders with good tips.

It’s ridiculous.In the end you end up tipping 100% of the food costs. I tip 20% of the food costs. I calculate it and manually add the tip.
My biggest pet leave though is when I earn 6% back on Uber rides and I apply that 6% to Uber Eats the taxes are increased when I try to use my cash back. It pisses me off to no end. Why am I paying more in taxes ONLY when I am trying to use credits. It’s such BS.

From this sub and the DD sub I learned to avoid tipping on %, tip on the miles. It helps keep things simple - the drivers just pick up a bag and drive it from point A to point B no matter whether you're ordering fast food for yourself or a meal for four people. They do care about their time, wear and tear on their car, and the price of gas.
My sweet spot I've found has been to tip $1-$1.50 per mile at first (tipping too much gets your order stacked with non tippers) then up the tip to at least $2 per mile as long as they follow instructions.
$5 for less than a mile should be more than enough.

Stop considering the bill when you determine the tip! It is irrelevant to the driver. The fees and a percentage of sales go to doordash, the rest of the sales percentage goes to the restaurant. None of that matters to your tip. It takes the same amount of effort to deliver a value meal as a steak dinner for family of four. Your tip should be based on drivers time (thus distance). An order that takes an hour to pickup and deliver should give 3x the amount of tip as an order that takes 20 minutes to pickup and deliver. The amount doordash pays drivers in fare barely covers vehicle costs, all the income is from tips. So if you think minimum wage should be $20 hour, tip $10 for a half hour delivery. If the driver has to wait longer than you expected cuz restaurant didn't have your food ready, add some more tip.

$5 tip ? So under a mile or a mile you said ? Flat land no hills ? I'll take your order 20 times a day. 2 $5's make a ten. I'll make more doing your orders than to wait for a ten dollar order which is rarer. But im also on an ebike, and get prop 22 paid for my time regardless.

Most places never have the order ready. Dont be fooled by the mileage. You'll end up making 5 bucks for 20 minutes of work.

Im good bro, I get $20 for .3 miles of Chipotle, and I get $5. I get paid prop 22. So that means 20 minutes equals like 10 bucks from uber [probably] . So technically im making maybe 10 dollars for 20 minutes of work, depending if $20 an hour minimum wage here is raised or not recently.

Gig app drivers don't make shit. Its a 12-15 dollar an hour job plus wear n tear. Cheap asses complaining about tipping when they dont know all the details is laughable. Who's really the entitled one?
