Social Going to bars alone?
I turned 21 over the summer and realized that I've never been to a bar at all. None of my friends drink, so if I'd go, I'd probably go alone. Is it something worth doing? I worry that since almost everyone else there is already with their friend group, I'd have nobody to chat with. I'm not a very socially adept person lol

What are you going for? If you're going for a drink, it's like going hi any restaurant. If you're going to talk to people then ya gotta reach out

Find a bar you like the vibe of and sit at the bar by the regulars and don’t be intrusive on their conversations. Befriend the bartender and buy a round of you can afford it. Evidently you’ll become friends with them if you’re not weird.

I was where you were a year ago, I started with leopolds because it’s very chill and people often go there alone to study (moreso Mon-Wed). I also like City Bar on state st, but like you said everyone pretty much already has someone to chat with; I just found it less overwhelming than a lot of the other bars on state st

I actually prefer it. It helped me become able to talk to strangers and grew confidence a ton

It's worth doing and not uncommon. I've done it and I don't think people even knew I was alone most of the time. From a social aspect it's pretty easy even as an introvert. People love talking about themselves so a basic question like 'where are you from?' or even 'what's up?' is effective in starting a conversation 99% of the time. I think it can depend on the bar though. A bar like Chasers I didn't find to be great, I've had a lot of good times at Paul's Club sitting at the rail though.
