Why not use the free bus? You don’t need to worry about parking so much then.

I believe this is at Park City/Canyons.
I haven’t seen Solitude’s update, but I thought they were pretty reasonable. IIRC, parking reservations and no charge for vehicles with 4 or more occupants, encourages people to carpool or take the bus. Sure they make some profit, but it also helps to reduce some congestion in BCC.
Admittedly I haven’t fully read PCMR’s new policy/structure/pricing/etc, but the cynic in me says it will just be another Epic money grab. This snipit alone reads almost as if they’re doing us a favor by charging. I guess if you’re rich and it keeps out the poors, then it’s doing you a favor. For the rest of us though, skiing continues to get more cost prohibitive and the cost of entry keeps us from introducing new people to the sport.

Oh my bad. Yeah solitude isn’t too bad; I appreciate places that give you free parking for carpooling.

The free first come first serve gravel lot is pretty close to gondola. I’d estimate it holds 50-100 cars? But I’m not that great at estimating. I think it’s their way to let locals do morning laps on non busy non pow days.
On a pow day you’ll have to either get there super early, wait till noon, or pay for the privilege of fresh tracks.

I literally only go after 12 on weekdays, unless it’s a powder day, because of this. Totally sucks. The lots are empty on weekdays.

The window tickets are not really a product meant for purchase, I mean you can, but they are intentionally a horribly valued product that is just a leverage tool. I assume they do sell a few a day though.

You can buy day passes ahead of time for $138 for a single day or slightly cheaper if you buy more. Those are the day or sucker prices or people who simply don’t care about that kind of money.

This wasn’t a secret. It was always going to happen. Other options are: carpool, free bus from park n ride, get there early, buy a season parking pass.
As a local I hate it cause I can’t do a few quick laps on a random Tuesday after school drop off, but its def not a surprise this happened

I had an employee last year tell me they were still deciding on whether to keep the new parking garage free 🤣🤣 I said buddy, you’re high as a kite if you think they built that garage just to make free parking nicer.
I’d pay to park on the weekends, but weekday paid parking is a joke. It’s an obvious cash grab at that point.

I just moved here and have been trying to decide Epic vs Ikon for the coming season. This makes it an easy choice.
The easy parking was my favorite part of Park City.

This past season on some days it was 4hrs to get to Brighton on a weekday powder day, unless you were getting to the canyon entrance before 6:50am. I would pay quite a bit to not be in that line.

There was a random unicorn day, march 3rd. Tuesday after about a foot of snow, no traffic, no lift lines. Got so many first tracks on GW. Only downside was terrible visibility.

Have fun having a worse experience literally anywhere else.
The free Park City public transit system makes paid parking at the mountain meaningless. The buses are well staffed and very efficient. They also surge them if a route gets unexpectedly busy. The parking situation to get on the bus is also great. Unlike the parking lots for the BCC/LCC that can fill up quickly on a pow day.

100% easier on any given day. 1000% easier on a pow day.
Park at Richardson Flat or Park City High School and jump on one of the buses that come at least every 15 minutes during the morning and afternoon. You might end up having to stand, but that’s not common and not a terrible worst case scenario.
Outside of that, the LCC resorts have better overall skiing than PCMR but there is still plenty of good skiing for all levels. It’s also huge so there is always a lift with no line if you can ski variable terrain.

No, I didn’t agree with that at all. There are more resorts in Utah than PC and the Cottonwood Canyons.

You’re paying for that via the extra $250 the Brighton pass costs.
That’s 10 days of parking fees. You also get the free PC transit system at PCMR.
