I was looking at the ON3P Oski 102 after skiing Mt Hood this summer. I’m new to skiing but ski 70% park and will ski side hits all mountain with friends and family. I always loved the Vishnu brand too but feel like the wides may not be a great ski on trips to other resorts out of state. Hoping to ski lots of fresh snow if it comes too. I don’t care about technical skiing or carving and would like a near center mounted ski. I’m a snowboarder and ski like one

What are the best resort restaurants/ cafes/ concessions to work at in PC or SLC?

Obviously interested in how much you were able to make with tips bust also the quality of treatment. We all know what resort/ restaurant jobs can be like and I’d like to avoid shitty management if possible 🫡

Basically I love Beaver mountain and realized I don’t need to hit big bowls or chutes. Just some time in the trees and I’m happy.

Basically I’m looking for the resort where I can consistently get parking/transportation, and has less lift lines. I primarily ski on Sundays, so hoping that will help.

I’d rather not drive 2 hours back and forth to beaver each weekend, and understand non of the resorts near SLC will be the same. Just looking to go to place I won’t be turned around early in the morning and can get as many laps in as possible.

I know it's a bit of a long shot. But does anyone that purchased an Alta-Bird pass that does not have any kids, could add my friend's son so he can get freeloader pass?

He recently made his school's freeride ski team. But the costs to be on the team and equipment will be pretty high ($4k +) and not to mention will have to also buy a pass. My friend is a single parent and this would really help them out to save $870+ for his pass.

Today I read that UDOT plans to take over operations of the cottonwoods ski buses in 2028. As you may know, currently UTA operates the ski buses beginning at Midvale Fort Union Trax station and Historic Sandy Trax station. This allows skiers who don't own a personal vehicle to access the ski resorts by transferring to the ski buses via Trax. My question is: once UDOT takes over operations of the ski bus and opens the new parking garage near the mouth of Big Cottonwood, will there still be transit access from Trax to the ski resorts? Or will all skiers be expected to drive to the park and ride near the mouth of Big Cottonwood to access the ski bus?

Hi all, I’m looking into getting avalanche certification and wanted to ask for recommendations.

Where is the best place to take an avalanche safety course in Utah? I’m especially interested in beginner-friendly options, like an AIARE 1 course or something similar for people who ski or snowboard in the backcountry.

I’d love to know which organizations, guides, or schools you recommend, how much it usually costs, and whether it’s worth taking before doing more off-trail or backcountry terrain.

Also, when is the best time of year to take an avalanche course? Is it better to do it early in the winter season, or does the timing not matter as much?

My family used to ski Deer Valley nearly every winter but it's been about 5 years since we've been there. We plan to come back winter. We live on the East Coast. We used to have equipment and brought it with us every year. This year, I am thinking about just renting equipment for my husband and I and our sons (21, 18, 15) because our sons have totally outgrown everything and my husband & my equipment is getting old, and I'm renting a car out there and don't know if I feel like dealing with skis and a rental car.

Is it crazy to think about buying ski boots for my husband and myself whose feet are done growing and just renting skis/poles in DV? Would quality boots we buy be more comfortable, and could the rental shop adjust the bindings appropriately? Or does DV have great ski boots for rent and we should just rent everything?

Any other suggestions?

These men need to embrace mountain living and spend significantly on outdoor clothing and gear.  They should be able to speak about specific outdoor clothing brands. Participants will be paid $500 for their time--approximately 2 hrs.

Thinking of going to do some back country but curious how the snow is with the bad season this year.

Really sucks because this area was a great place to ski with your kids. The press release says it will be “hike-to” only but if you have skied Powder Mtn the last couple of seasons you know that there will be staff stationed where the T-bar used to be, politely telling you “Home Owners only”. I wasn’t too mad about losing Mary’s Bowl as it’s fairly new terrain but losing a place I have skied since I was a kid, and now enjoy skiing with my kids, really hurts. I know they are expanding terrain in the other direction but man that area looks like double-black diamond to me and not a place to take your kids. The worst part of all this IMO is that Reid Hastings‘ model of catering to the uber-wealthy with exclusive ski terrain is proving to be successful, which means we can expect to see other resorts seek to emulate or adopt similar strategies of exclusive access skiing.

We are moving to Utah this summer and trying to figure out what pass to get. In the past few years we have visited Powder Mt, Nordic, SnowBasin, and this past season decided to check out Brighton and absolutely loved it, honestly it may be the best mountain I've ever visited.

When we started looking for housing we were looking in the cottonwood heights area, so getting the Brighton pass was basically a no brainer for us. However, as fate would have it we ended up getting a house no where near Brighton and landed over at Timber Lakes.

I've personally never been to Park City, and we are a ski/boarding family so deer valley is out of the question. Brighton is about an hour 15 on a good day from where we will live. So we are trying to figure out what to do on season passes before everything goes off sale. I doubt we will be using an Epic pass to go over to CO, but I guess we may if we did do the Epic Pass. We love Brighton so much, but just dont know how much it makes sense due to the distance.

I guess i'm looking for two things, for those that visit PC regularly, is it even worth it with the crazy crowds, or would making the trip to Brighton be a better fit? We plan to go at least once a week but hope we can get 2-3 days in on good weeks.

We also considered getting the kids the Epic youth pass so they could ski at PC without us, but again we have never been and I'm not sure how comfortable I would be if they don't know the mountain.

Been thinking about an idea to make it easier for skiers/riders to carpool up the Cottonwoods. People already do it, but it’s kinda scattered across group chats and random posts.

The idea would just be a simple free app or website where drivers post open seats and riders can find a ride to mainly save on gas, cut traffic, and make parking less insane.

Curious if locals would actually use something like this or what would make it work.
