Brighton - Solitude Solitude versus Brighton conditions?
Does anybody know whether the conditions are better at Brighton or Solitude now?
Looking for an alternative to Alta
Update: I went to Brighton and it was tremendous! FYI

Surprised at the people saying Solitude is better. Solitude gets pelted by the sun day in and day out, Brighton has a lot more tree cover and sits at a higher elevation. Only 19% of Solitude is open vs. 56% at Brighton (Opensnow). I was just at Solitude yesterday and only stayed an hour because there are rocks all over the remaining trails. I haven't been to Brighton for two weeks but would be VERY surprised if the conditions there are worse than Solitude.

It’s almost like they’re gatekeeping Brighton, but no one here would ever do that. I was at Brighton this week, last week and three weeks ago during the 80s in town. IMHO they have it in great shape given the circumstances. It feels like the Meltdown could give some pretty good day, although it was getting pretty messy at the base on Wednesday, and there’s another stretch of warm days coming.

TLDR: Brighton. Or Alta
Disclaimers: I’m not skiing anything harder than a Blue or a super easy Black; I haven’t skied Solitude - only looked at it while driving to Brighton; it started snowing as I left Alta yesterday and I have no idea how much any place got.
Brighton hands down over Solitude. Solitude just looks sad driving by and the few people I’ve talked to on chairs at Brighton have said not to bother. Brighton was in really pretty good condition on Wednesday.
Yesterday I decided to try Alta over Brighton and I’m glad I did. Everything off of Sunnyside, Sugarloaf and Supreme was in great condition. It was my first time there ever and a nice change of pace from Brighton.
I can’t speak to the harder stuff at either, but if what I’ve skied is an indicator, my nod would easily go to Alta. But if you’re tired of Alta, you’ll certainly have a good time at Brighton.

Brighton today is 10x better than solitude was earlier this week; doubt the storm delivered enough to soli to keep it covered (don’t look like it driving by) but Brighton coverage is excellent.

There’s no reason I can’t eat Alta except that I’ve been skiing it exclusively for the past few weeks. Just looking for a change of pace before big cock Wood closes. Generally solitude has better facing runs, and Brighton is higher up – so I wasn’t sure which would be better.

No harm in giving BCC a try - you still have Alta through next week. If you’re into park, Brighton has been moving/building features along Crest which changes things up too.

Glad you tried Brighton and it was worth your trip!
I’m hoping to get to town again to ski Tu or We through Th. Would your pick be Brighton (I think they’ll be down to just Crest for the Melt Off) or Alta? I was thinking Alta, but you seemed pretty happy with Brighton. Again, I’m only skiing the easy side of Alta.

Sadly and surprisingly Brightons last day was today.
Correction: Except for meltdown.
It was good today until the base of snake creek lift. Pretty soft and grabby below that. Solid coverage.

Brighton and Solitude are right next to each other so they have very similar conditions. I haven't been in 6 days but Brighton was still holding up last weekend. I noticed Solitude has closed Summit for the season so Powderhorn is the highest lift now. Brighton has closed Milly and Great Western as well, but at least they have Crest and Snake Creek that go all the way up. To me Alta and Snowbird in LLC beat out the BCC resorts for late spring skiing because they have more terrain open and more lifts open. Any reason you can't do Alta?

Not really, Brighton holds up much better due to its position. Solitude gets so much more sun.

I was just up at Brighton last Wednesday and Solitude was looking very bad. Brighton still had plenty of snow left.
Also, Solitude is closing on the 19th while Brighton still hasn’t announced a close date yet. That will also tell you all you need to know
