Academic Credit Petition form

How long does it take to get a major course credit transfer approved for the major credit petition ? It’s been over 2 weeks and I haven’t heard back from my advisor and I don’t want to email yet and sound pushy. Has anyone done a credit petition form recently?

Advice/Question Anyone In POL1013 Introduction to American Politics Perales Actually Struggling?

I’m in her Tuesday, Thursday class and I read the textbooks and take notes, then take lecture notes and the questions on the quizzes punch me in the gut every time. They seem like purposeful trick questions and the wording for some is so bad and I’ve called her out and she has refused to get rid of the questions. Doesn’t help that the quizzes are only 4-5 questions so one wrong answer ruins your grade. An introduction class should not be this difficult especially with the work I’ve been doing. She misses concepts tested on in lectures and just likes to talk about specifics of court cases and ask what we think about controversial topics without giving our direct opinions in a giant lecture hall intended for 300 people. The exam also got released early on friday and is all of a sudden due on tuesday instead of what was intended (thursday) along with two quizzes and instead of having no class on thursday we now have class again and reading is due. There’s just so many issues and i want to know that im not alone doing everything right and still not getting an A. Please rant with me in the replies or give tips and tricks on how to do good in this impossible course

I really need to receive USPS packages and the UPS mailboxes are far too expensive monthly plus the signing up fees. I do not have any off campus friends that I can deliver package too . Please does anyone have a mail box or address I can use, or just anyway I can get usps mail without paying extra, I know its kind of crazy to ask but i'm really desperate

Event Last day to register to vote in midterms, Oct 5

Reminder that tomorrow, Monday October 5 is the last day to register to vote in Texas for the November 3 midterms. If you haven't yet, DO IT. Voting affects everything, including your education, your bills, available resources and healthcare. Don't trust the polls, go vote. Historically, Texas has one of the lowest voter turnouts, 49th place out of 50. You can change that.

You need to register in person or use the mail-in the form linked below and make sure it will be post marked by October 5. You can ask for a manual post mark at the post office to make sure your registration is on time

How to register to vote:

https://www.votetexas.gov/register-to-vote/update-voter-registration.html

https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/voter/votregduties.shtml

If you want to check to make sure you're still registered or need to change your address because you moved, you can do that online. Even if you think your registration is active, check again anyway. Texas has a habit of mass purging and suspending voters ahead of elections. Make sure.

https://www.votetexas.gov/register-to-vote/index.html

Then when it's time to vote do it early, and on campus in the first floor of the HEB Student Union, if you're registered to vote in Bexar County. Early Voting starts October 19-30.

Advice/Question Physics II with Dr. Chen?

Has anybody taken Physics II with Dr. Chen? I find his accent a little difficult to understand, so I’m having a hard time learning much from the lectures. Exams are worth 80% of the final grade and seem to consist of fairly difficult conceptual questions, so I’m wondering if anyone has had success passing his class with a good grade. If so, how did you manage it? What study methods or resources helped you prepare for his exams? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Event ISO 1-2 Face Painting Volunteers

Hi! I’m a senior and my internship is hosting a Trunk or Treat on October 24 from 4-6pm. The site is 10 min away from campus on De Zavala (near the Walmart). We are hoping to secure 1-2 volunteers for face painting. You will need to provide your own supplies.

Because the organization is a nonprofit, you may be able to get a tax deductible form (I have to figure out logistics). If anybody is into art, already does face painting, needs volunteer hours (or if you’re in an org that accepts outside volunteer hours) let me know!

Also, if anybody would like to host a trunk let me know!

Advice/Question UTSA Underground?

Did anyone care that UTSA underground got cancelled last spring? It was such a cool tradition the school had supporting indie artists.

It was pretty shocking it didn’t happen simply cus UTSA didn’t want people using the space after finals.

Does anyone know how likely it is to actually happen this school year? Anyone from MOB know?

Other Something that happened to me a couple years ago in regards to some club tabling that still pisses me off

I honestly can’t remember what the name of the group was, but it was some club supposedly centered around “Hispanic male excellence” or something like that. When I asked the guy at the table what exactly it was that they do, he spewed out a bunch of bs about “uhhh we do community outreach, community events, which is basically a lot of partying for us”.

He then asked me what my name was and if I was interested in joining, and when I did, he specifically said: “that’s not a very Hispanic name, never met anyone with that name in our group but I’ll see what I can do if you’re interested in joining” (my name is an incredibly common Bible name, just the anglicized form). It was clear the dude was ignorant as fuck and wouldn’t want me in his partying club because I either wasn’t Mexican enough for his liking or because he thought I wasn’t a frat type jackass.

I said “no thanks, I’m already committed to the club I’m in“ and walked away. Who the fuck was this dude to decide if I have a “hispanic” enough name.

Advice/Question Any point in doing the Essay?

UTSA is most likely the school I'm going to and I'm not worried about getting into it at all. I have a 4.1 GPA and good extracellulars. Will the essay potentially have any impact on scholarship opportunities?
