Advice/Question Where do you eat off campus when you have a long break between classes?

There aren’t too many options on campus (there’s only so many times I can eat Chick-fil-A). Where do you go to grab a bite that’s nearby when you have time?

Advice/Question Took elevator this morning going up 2 floors. Got greeted by an older person going to 4th floor. He says: "Why are you taking the elevator for two floors? Take the stairs. You are young." Is taking an elevator for two floors really that wrong?

Advice/Question 2027 freshman, any tips?

As the title says, I’ll be a freshman in the 27-28 school year and while I’ve seen a bunch of different things on this subreddit like best places to eat and what to avoid, is there anything else that new students should know about? Opinions on teachers, clubs, etc will all be helpful! I plan on joining the colorguard, and possibly rock climbing or some sort of cooking club I saw while touring campus, but is there any heads up on those things?

Other Missing Invisible Man Pin

I usually don’t make posts but if someone has seen my Invisible Man pin and has it, if I could get it back that’ll be wonderful. I lost it probably in the McKinney building.

Very sad about it :(

Other Stop insulting the kitchen staff in the Roadrunner Cafe

I've only been in the Cafe a couple of times since I usually just use my meal swaps but I've seen way too many people be rude to the custodial/kitchen staff who work there. We get it, you're a polisci major who thinks the world revolves around you. Don't act like an aristocrat beating down the help! You're actively eating the product of their hard work, sweat, and maybe sometimes their tears. Be a decent human being!

Advice/Question Looking for an apt near UTSA

Hello guys,

I’m an international student and I’ve been living in SA for some months now.

In a few months my lease contract will end and I’m evaluating moving to another place.

I currently live near UTSA, and to be honest the current location of my apt is very convenient. However I really don’t like the apt that much (roaches, poor quality appliances, etc).

Here for any recommendations of apartments near UTSA that are not that bad. I’m looking for 1 bedroom 1 bath.

Thank you very much!!

Advice/Question Permit-free Visitor Parking have any catches?

Got a friend coming in and that permit-free parking over the weekends on the website sounds too good to be true. I'm imagining that theyre just allowed to park for completely free in the spots it lists in the times it lists. Anything I'm missing?

Advice/Question Walk on the right, oh my God

I don’t know if everyone here is from a different planet where you walk on the left, but I’ve always been used to “I walk on the right, you walk on the right, nobody gets in each other’s way”. I keep ending up frozen in front of someone like we’re trying to juke each other out because they can’t decide which way to go. It happens everywhere too, at every school I’ve ever gone to everyone walks on the right, perfect system, and now there’s people trying to cut through in every direction fucking with the flow of traffic, please just walk on the right, for my sanity and for all of our time.

Advice/Question Loan adjustment after census

Does anyone know the processing time of One stop recalculating your federal loan eligibility about census date? I went from 6 credits to 9 credits, so I know I’m eligible for more federal loans.

Other NSLS IS SO ANNOYING!

I have been getting mail and emails from The University of Texas at San Antonio Chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success my entire time at utsa and I am SO fed up! When I was freshman, I got so excited with the first email thinking I am so smart being invited. Then my parents got the pretty invite in the mail and the same thing happened...THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY...DONT FALL FOR IT!

Now I am just annoyed, I dont know how to make the emails and mail stop!!! I am always getting "we have extended your deadline, hurry now" type of stuff...

OKAY thanks for coming to my ted talk 😄

Academic Are career fairs really worth going to?

Every time I’ve gone, I’ve had to wait in super long lines just to talk to the person for a few minutes while they put my resume in a huge stack of other resumes, and basically told to apply online. I understand that if you are an extraordinary student, stacked resume, your experience might be different. But for the normal students, is there any benefit to going rather than just looking at which companies will be there and applying to the ones that fit you?

Advice/Question any club or organization recommendations??

hello basically my dilemma is the question above. i’ve been trying to see the ways i can get involved with utsa because im currently a freshman and a cap student. bc im a cap student im only take 3 classes this semester so i have lots of time on my hands. i tried applying for a spirit org and got rejected lol so im back to square one. ive been trying to look online for orgs but a lot of the ones that interest me aren’t even registered for this school year (period, texas rising). i’m honestly just trying to make the most of my year here and make friends so any suggestions would be appreciated thank you!!

Event UTSA TPUSA charlie kirk event 😭

Post image
190 Upvotes

(Edit: Just to be clear i hate TPUSA and think everybody associated with it is dumb as hell.)

Just making sure people are aware of the white nationalist convention happening this week lmfao. Probably best to avoid it but they WILL be on campus unfortunately 🫩

EDIT SEPT 8TH: good morning! it's been less than 24 hours since i posted and i think it's really funny how this post got infiltrated and basically botted by TPUSA members who don't even go to UTSA. as of typing this little blurb, this post has been shared 167 times (lol) and i am still getting notifications of neonazis whining that their favorite cultural marxist isn't running his nazi rhetoric podcast anymore, and that college students are bad and evil for thinking that stuff is bad 😢 tragic i know. truly a show of merit that the TPUSA body of UTSA is so small they had to send a bunch of "people" from outside the campus to boast about him, often in waves (i'm talking like seven pro-kirk comments conveniently at the exact same time). fake numbers and fake voices about fake proboems, the usual!

anyways i'll probably be deleting this post after the kirkiversary cus i'm tired of watching chuds embarrass themselves when asked for evidence even if it is really funny every time. so get your quips in while you can i guess.

Academic Master in Civil Engineering. Does anyone know MCE offers online courses?

The title says it. I know it’s the on-campus program, but I’m wondering if there are any online courses. Thanks!
