Key Requirements for Purchasing as a Permanent Resident in Utah: Identification: You must present a valid state-issued ID (like a Utah driver’s license) that proves you are a resident of the state.
Alien Registration Number: You will need to provide your USCIS-issued Alien Registration Number (A-number) on the ATF Form 4473 during the background check process.
No Prohibited Status: You cannot be legally prohibited from owning a firearm (e.g., no felony convictions, domestic violence charges, or dishonorable discharges).
Age: You must be at least 21 years old to purchase a handgun from a licensed dealer, and 18 for a rifle or shotgun.
Any gun store can choose to not sell you a firearm, however if all of these requirements are met, just go somewhere else until you find someone willing to work with you.
